I went out shopping for my Mini today with the idea of getting some sort of container to fit just below the emergency brake. The dimensions are sort of 3"x5"1.5". I went from one end of the Container Store to the other and found candidates in office supplies, kitchen storage and bath supplies. I finally settled on a stainless steel soap dish which cost $7.50. I put a little Mini sticker taken from a magazine ad and stabilized it underneath with small pieces of velcro. Here's what it looks like:

On the same trip I picked up one of these fairly common things for $1.50. It doesn't really fit anywhere but the dash, but since I can't bring myself to put Fastrack velcro on the windshield, this will do for the time being:

:) I like the way it looks, but aren't you worried about the heat factor? :p I guess, in a pinch, you could scramble some eggs in it!:D

Hi MINIclo, yes I wondered about that, but after using it for a few days, it's been fine. The only things I planning on leaving there are a few coins and the cell phone headset.

Of course, it could be assigned cooking duty one day. Pop up the bonnet and put the tray on a just-run engine...bon appetit!

Here's a revision of the second picture I posted. I cut off the bits I didn't want. Now it's positioned right between the hand brake and the rear cup holder. Bit of velcro is holding it in place. Handy for parking change :)

Someone mentioned they'd seen pics of a factory coin tray by the driver's leg lined with felty material. Anyone have any idea about that? Where can I see pics? Where can I get it?

This came up in another thread, but if you've got a glovebox in your car, there's a really nifty bunch of slots which can hold coins in the glovebox door.
