: How to clean decals??? viperfire Aug 22nd, 2006, 09:06 PM I have a silver union jack on the roof of my car black stripes on my bonnet.
How do i clean them? I've been washing the car with meguiars and only waxing the none decal parts. Just wondering if i can wax over them or will this create marks etc? Denyer Aug 23rd, 2006, 12:20 PM Hi you can clean your mini as normal waxing over the stripes will not harm them infact it will help protect them sel Aug 23rd, 2006, 12:37 PM yep!! i agree i polish over mine...... no harm done! Benmk Aug 23rd, 2006, 01:04 PM i do the same, polish and wax! JG.26 Aug 23rd, 2006, 07:16 PM I only use a 100% carnauba wax (Harly Wax) on my silver and grey UJ and black bonnet stripes as it doesn't contain silicones or abrasives. I personally wouldn't use any liquid waxes. If you use say Autoglym on the black stripes you will see it removing the ink
I noticed some peeps have been having problems with the silver vipers and UJ which is probably caused by strong UV sunlight so in the summer I use 303 Aerospace protectorant.
Hope that helps viperfire Aug 23rd, 2006, 07:29 PM Thanks for the advice :D
Anyone know the best way to clean the dash, trim and the half leather seats?
Also is Mequiars wheel clean safe on Bullets? BlackMiniMac Aug 23rd, 2006, 08:04 PM I use Decosol(tm) foam on the red fabric bits and autoglym leather creame on the leather bits (duh) Works for me ;) JG.26 Aug 23rd, 2006, 08:31 PM I use the Meguires leather cream on the seats (half leather). For the trim etc I just go over with a damp leather, never worry about the dash as this is covered with a dash mat. viperfire Aug 26th, 2006, 11:33 AM Thanks for all the tips :)
So anymore info on cleaning the dash and trim and is Meguiars wheel cleaner safe? viperfire Aug 26th, 2006, 02:09 PM Bah well i cleaned my dash with a duster then microfibre followed by morrisons multi surface polish. Hi,
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I have heard of this problem before where it seems to be the lighter silver parts of the UJ that seems to get these spots, you could try a mild wax like Autoglym after washing and see it it removes the spots, but don't rub hard as it will mark the vinyl. I hate to say it but as other peeps have said about a similar problem, it maybe the vinyl is starting to deteriorate. I'm not sure whether the vinyl BMW use is very resilient to sunlight UVs and general weathering and if the car if left outside all the time.
How long have you had your UJ? if it's less than 2 years I would see if the dealer will replace it as I think the warranty on their vinyls is only 2 years. Had mine on about 2 half years now and seems perfect but then I've used plenty or Carnauba wax on it and the car is always garaged and not used in bad weather or the winter months which I reckon has saved it upto now. I think if mine did deteriorate I will just get it removed and polish the roof up.
Hope that helps. Pecka68 Sep 22nd, 2006, 06:07 PM Hi thanks for your reply, it is over 2 years so warrenty expired.......oh well, will try the wax I like the UJ so think will keep it and maybe when have enough money will replace it..........thanks again.
Mich JG.26 Sep 22nd, 2006, 06:45 PM No problem, good luck with the roof  | |
