Whoopee! Four MINI2 owners of the CP. Boy how people are missing out. Wish more were here though.

Where are all the other CP owners? Yesterday, while driving down the Don Valley Parking Lot, I was right beside another CR/W MINI CP. I waved, he waved and that was about it. No "Wow Man, nice car!" sentiments and we are driving the most awesome MINI ever made, with the possible exception of the GP. Where have all the enthusiasts gone? In the beginning, every MINI owner waved, honked the horn, flashed the lights and treated you like long lost family. Nowadays you may not even get a sideways glance. What's up with that? Seems to me that MINI owners out west are still living the dream though.

Mike was telling me that your car was hit with overspray? What's the story, Chris? Dead house painters littering the driveway?

Fencing contractor painted our fences (new development) with a grey, oil based paint. Our newly built garage was without a garage door at this time. Mini was inside and somehow a fine mist of this paint covered the entire vehicle with the drive side receiving the lightest spray. I didn't notice this for about two weeks cause the weather has been relatively crappy. Went to detail and whammo! One couldn't tell by looking at is from a short distance, even close up in spots it is hard to see, but I was devastated. The surface of the car is totally rough like sand paper. Way worse than a kid barfing in my passenger seat.

So, fencing contractor is long gone and I have little ground to stand on but my own. So I got out my Zaino clay bars and went to town. It took me an hour to do the hood and front fenders. I need better weather and a heated garage to finish it off. Thankfully this crap is coming off, but it is like the detail job from hell. Elbow grease is needed in bulk for this job. Also glad this car is so small. That is the story. When I am done, the MINI will spot free and smooth as a baby's bottom. Pity it had to happen and happen so soon after purchase.

Sweet! This sounds like the MINI Crowfoot car that Abulia bailed on. Glad you got it and glad you posted. How wicked this package is. After several months now of owning this car my only fault is the lack of steering wheel controls. How long have you had yours?

Why did Abulia bail?

I have had it for a week now. I'm looking at getting the colour coding done to match the body. Not sure what else to get. It pretty sweet, but I tell you, trying to drive gingerly through the break-in period is killing me. KILLING ME. I'm like a fat kid surrounded by chocolate cake.

Any thoughts on what else I should get for it?

I can empathize CB. Those first 2000 kms., all that potential energy just waiting to be unleashed. The day will come soon enough when she is broken in and then you realize just what an awesome little buggy the CE really is. And don't feel too badly for poor Mr. Abulia...he just couldn't sell his Porsche. The only things I have added to Banshee are the 3M full frontal treatment, racing stripes and the JCW wheel centre inserts.

What are the wheel centre inserts?

What are the wheel centre inserts?

All CP owners go through the same break-in angst. It's normal. The inserts stickman speaks of are simply the plastic center piece of each wheel that has "MINI" on it. Those pop out.

Abulia did undergo the most stress I have ever witnessed via a forum over the purchase of a vehicle. I guarantee he will shed a small tear if you ever pass him in your Hyper Blue #9.

I used to like the look of the painted arches, however, on my Chili Red I prefer the stock look. Especially considering the aerokit grills are black and even the aerokit bumper edges. It all blends well to me. What I did though, was added the black "foils" that surround the fog lights (more black) which to me adds more depth to the front kit. I also did the full 3M kit and on the inside I swapped out the steering wheel's plain silver trim for the 3 JCW carbon fiber pieces. I bought them out of the US as Canadian pricing was a joke. I paid a whopping $180 Cdn for all three pieces from Morristown MINI. That would have got me one piece from a local dealer.

JCW carbon fibre bits for the steering wheel @ $180 Cdn. I am thinking maybe an early birthday present for Banshee. Then there are the carbon fibre bits for the outside too. After all, the Targa car has them. Money well spent. Good thing I no longer have a wife that requires me to justify all these purchases.

I am in Vancouver, so I don't know that I'll have occasion to pass him. That said, I could always get a big huge #9 put on my doors, just in case. :nice:

Re: trim, I just don't like how it looks against the HB, particularly cause I have a black roof and mirrors (which are glossy), and tinted windows. Your CR has a white roof, right? I think with a white roof you're right, the black adds a nice accent. But with my roof and mirrors, and windows, I think I can maybe do without the black on the trim. I was initially thinking about getting the trim done in glossy black to match the roof, but I think that might be overwhelming. I cant quite visualize it, and I can't find a picture. The closest I have seen is stoopidgirls pink with glossy black, and I don't know that the effect would be the same for my HB as it is with her pink.

Funny that you bring up the carbon trim for the wheel. I was just thinking about getting that. I was also offered a good deal on a HB dash, but I don't know how that will look against the door handles and columns that are anthracite.

I wonder what the carbon outside stuff would look like against HB. I keep going back and forth with that.

I will soon have a wife to whom I already have to justify all these purchases. I think thats going to make it hard to get the JCW 18s I am eyeing. :hmph:

#48 hits the streets this Saturday. No stranger to MINI, Mike is leaving an '04 'S for the CE. I'll tell him he should come in here and register.

Good to hear. Is this the Astro Black car? What happened to the Hyper Blue CE?

#19 is currently for sale at MINI Richmond. CR/W, premium package.

So the question I have now, why are people trading in their R53 MCS - very limited edition CPs?

BTW...I saw the one in Richmond's showroom. It's gorgeous. If I wasn't saving up for something else of more importance, I would be trading in my MINI for this one....sigh.

The one at MR was traded in because the guy is going the Macau to open a casino and had to sell his toys. Low mileage because he had multiple toys to choose from. Not that I asked. :)

She took the day off. Probably out motoring. Unlikely to hear from her about the car (and post pix) until Monday.

Velveteen_MINI was traded in :( for another rare car :D #19/64 CE

I have always preferred a standard but it wasn't in the cards when we purchased Velveteen.

Tough to get used to the extra 90hp, not. Really holds the road nicely, like glue.

I thought, from the posts, that you owned a CE, faster.

I hear there is another CE for sale at the Victoria dealership. No, I won't be buying it. Gotta save SOME money for the BugEye restoration.

Used all the traction control devices on the Alex Fraser ice rink, I mean bridge, this morning. And they are calling for snow again tomorrow through the morning rush. Oh, joy.

Want to get out for a good drive and some beauty shots soon.

Hmmm, the picture looks mighty familiar. Seems snow seems to like Langley since I've owned a MINI.
