Hi there Florida people! :D
Would you say $280 a month for the electric bill for a 1450 sq foot house in Florida is rather expensive?
Thanks!

Stripey, what season? Air Conditioning in August can be very expensive.

speedy response!
I thought it would be that. Still sounds a lot though. It is still $100+ over winter. Could be the pool heater then I suppose (although that shouldn't be on a lot of the time). Over $2000 for the year.
Seems like a lot, when for a larger house over here it is a lot less, although once our gas is incuded it is getting closer to the same I suppose. :(

I'm not in FL, I'm in VA and local rates can vary widely. :) But during the summer, just running air conditioning and the normal assortment of appliences, gas stove and water heater, my electric bill runs around $200 a month. My house is over twice that size, but the increase isn't directly proportional. You have a pool there? I'm sure the heater isn't running in the summer ;) but running the filters for the minimum of four hours a day costs a lot too.
BTW, what are you doing in Florida? :)

It's a villa that we rent out. I'm not actually there unfortunately! :(
We have just done our tax returns, and got my annual shock at how much all the utilities and taxes cost. Property tax is extortionate too!
I think the pool pump runs pretty much all day, from early morning till late evening. I guess that would cost a bit too! Need to rent it out more.
Thanks for your help. Fancy a trip to Florida?

Not planning a trip to FL anytime soon, but a villa does sound nice!
Just to help, you may want to post it for rent on my local MINI board? I'm admin there and don't mind. HRMINI Home (http://www.hrmini.com)
