: Indy MINI Owners, Please Read... COOPERation Aug 10th, 2002, 08:29 AM I have received an "exclusive invitation" to "take a lap" on the F1 road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, August 18th between 1 and 4 pm.
I'm ten hours east of Indy so I'm offering this pass to any MINI owner in the Indy area who can guarantee me that they'll do it. I want to see pictures and hear about it! No excuses....I don't want to hear that Grandma was in from Terre Haute or Dad made me mow the lawn. Mow on Saturday and Grandma can sit in the backseat while you "do your lap".
This pass is FREE of charge to the first person that wants it. PM me an address and a guarantee of attendance and it's yours. You must be 18 and sign a waiver.
BTW, if they're giving these passes out at the Indy area grocery stores with a 12-pack of Mountain Dew or something, just ignore this.
Also, they are imposing a 30 mph speed limit...bummer. :( Garfield Aug 11th, 2002, 07:02 PM Now that sucks, I will be racing in a Pro Solo on the 17th and 18th in Peru, Indiana, just an hour north. If I don't make the challenge round, I could easily get down there in time. But, if I do make the Challenge, I don't think I'll make it by 4pm.
But, I'm a racer and the 30mph thing wouldn't thrill me, I might get thrown out...;)
Brian disneypoint Aug 12th, 2002, 03:04 AM OOHHH!! well I'm 17 but I guess my dad could drive (doesn't that suck). I can watch my baby go around the track where it belongs lol. And that 30 mph speed limit would be trouble for me anyways..hehe.. COOPERation Aug 12th, 2002, 05:09 PM Thanks to Coopspeed, Garfield, disneypoint, and miniyoda for responding.
miniyoda will represent "minidom" at IMS next Sunday in his Cooper. Enjoy it, miniyoda!
Now let's see some representation at the USGP at the end of September! S2000&CooperS Aug 12th, 2002, 05:33 PM I'll be there! Maybe my Cooper will be there too  :D........I'm not really sure how my friends and I are getting there yet but we have tix. Thanks a ton COOPERation for the pass, and I will be sending you many many pics of the day's events.
Mini Yoda. squid Aug 13th, 2002, 06:40 PM I've got my ticket and will be at the Indy F1 parade lap
with my MINI, after the SCCA Peru Pro Solo.
Passenger space in my car is available to anybody without
a ticket. miniyoda Aug 13th, 2002, 08:26 PM I spoke with the co-ordinator of the event, and was told that (obviously) I can not get out of the car during my lap. This might make it difficult to take pictures, but will do what I can. There are two points where pics will be taken of my car, and if the price is right,I will purchase them and scan the pics in. I will also have my brother in law take a cam corder with us and shoot the whole drive.
Still wish I could stop on the brickway and take a pic....oh well. squid Aug 13th, 2002, 09:54 PM The main reason I chose a sunroof
car was so I could take pictures from the
driver's seat.
(I use a Nikon Coolpix twist-body).
Must freshen the batteries by Fri. miniyoda Aug 14th, 2002, 08:12 AM Originally posted by squid

what time were you planning on being there Sunday? Also, I hope we don't get our cameras mixed up (I also own a coolpix, model 950) squid Aug 14th, 2002, 06:31 PM what time were you planning on being there Sunday
1-4pm
Look for the British Green, white roof, sunroof,
V-spoke wheels.
I'm coming from the SCCA Pro Solo in Peru, IN;
I'm not sure when I'll be cleared to leave Peru,
but should have no problem getting to Indy by 2pm. squid Oct 1st, 2002, 07:16 PM So I was there, Met 'yoda' and others.

Summary:
Back in August I toured the Indy F1
track, and met some other motorists from
mini2.com.
This event was a promotion for people who
bought blocks of F1 tickets for last weekend's,
Ferarri parade, and we were able to drive our
own cars around the track.
My favourite pic is looking up and back thru
the sunroof, toward the banked turn.
