Just get info from dealer, it won't come until next wednsday, which means I have to take buses for two more days. The good part is public transportation is environment friendly.:(

Oh the Earth will thank you for those 2 days I'm sure :D

It's just 2 days, the agony of waiting will just add to the excitment when you get to drive it  I say, the longer the wait the better! (just kidding)

Finally got it this Wednesday night. I was busy on run-in these days:p . It's so fun, especially in curves. I will post some pics later (so busy these days, and it's raining all day now:( ).

Found a problem (if it is a problem): being jerky at around 1500 RPM. I thought it had been solved long time ago. Is it normal?

Cooper S 6spd manual?
No, it's a MC with CVT.

I think MCSa won't have the jeky issue.

Do you mean you feel the car lurge forwards and backwards at low speeds, like crawling in traffic?

I've never felt the CVT "jerking" around if you full throttle it :D

Yes, that's the feeling in low speeds. and You are right, it's not jerky at full throttle;) . Is it normal? Was I just too gentle?

How many km did you do for run-in? Manul said it's 2000km with RPM less than 4500, but my friend who has a MCS recommend 5000km with RPM less than 3000.

For the low speed jerk, it's like that even with the manual, but with the manual it is only when you are crawling at idle (950rpm), the electronic throttle keeps opening and closing a little by itself creating the jerk.

As for run in, I did 2000 km of below 4500, now at 22000km I don't burn any oil at all. Mind you, I always take it easy below 3000rpm until the coolant is at normal operating temperature, only then will I take it up to 5k, and after 5-10 more minutes I'll redline whenever I want to (not too often really)

If you've got a CVT read this:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/cvt-automatic/25028-cvt-driving-technique-17.html

Basically it boils down to "put your foot down hard to let the computer know you want to go".

If you ease into it, it gets confused.

Of course whenever I drive the other car now I scream off the starts from stamping the pedal too much!

I can tell you that in weather such as this (-8 Celcius) that the water temp will be pegged at the normal (12 o'clock) whilst the oil temperature has still to move past it's base point of 40 degrees. The oil pressure tends to stay higher during this time also.

I usually wait until the oil has past the 60 degree Celcius mark before doing too much "spirited" motoring. :p

What makes your friend recommend this, and why would it be better for the break-in period? Lugging the engine (running at below 3000rpm) wouldn't be good at the best of times, and if you had to get going in a hurry (ie. out of the way) .....that's not going to happen!

RPM less than 3000 would be tough unless you want to idle around your neighbourhood for 5000kms.

In any case the run-in period of 2000kms below 4500 is fine (also keep it below 140km/h) but don't just get on the highway and set the cruise, you need to vary the speeds a bit.

We did ours in under a week, just take a road trip :)

I am *almost* at the end of my 2000 kms, after only five weeks! I figure I'll be done by Friday... ;)

Too bad it's wearing 'snow boots' and the roads are covered in ice so I won't be able to push it too hard anyways.

I got the NOKIAN Hakkapeliitta RSi 195/55R16 on Core Racing's Starfire 16x7.
Good week to try them out thats for sure. Our minivan got towed to the shop today. :( I guess I should have bought two sets of winter tires.

It wasn't me! ;) The neighbourhood is a skating rink. My wife hit the curb at the corner in front of MRC2K6's place.

The new wheel footprint looks like this:

Talk about curbing, it took the bead right off the wheel! I'm afraid to think what they'll ding me for that.

I know. The roads are terrible. Some days they have absolutely no grip. I keep telling my wife and kids not to park in front of the house because of people slipping as they turn that corner. I find the side of the house is safer. But of course, like usual, they never listen.
