I don't particularly mind where we go, but just keep in mind that navigating through lots of traffic to get to our lunch destination is not preferrable... although... causing alot of havoc with MINIs zigzagging all over the place would be pretty cool....

Some interesting ideas have been brought up, but I have to agree with Ben on the not messing with success thing. At the risk of being little miss bossy here, I am sharing my experience because making a day like this move smoothly is freaking hard work.

Call me a traditionalist but the combo of PITS and Wisemans Ferry *works*. Everyone can find their way to PITS and it is the pirate clubhouse. It also represents the best compromise for the most people.

Heading further north (eg Wollombi) is way too unfair on the southerners. It is already a huge day for them. (Unless they want it huge, then putty goes back on the cards).

The day for me is about seeing lots of old friends and having a bit of a drive somewhere to find a meal for lunch. Most of the suggested places so far lack one or more of those things (except perhaps Bobbin Head, which may be free to park at but it costs $11 to get into). The run to Wisemans was slow last year, however because it is one road with no turns - it was impossible to lose anyone and it is a nice drive at the speed limit. The thought of trying to navigate 20 MINIs to The Entrance or some other busy tourist spot gives me the heebie jeebies.

Wisemans pub can also accomodate 50 people just showing up (as long as you don't order bangers and mash - no matter where you are that meal never arrives). Trying to pin everyone down to get numbers for a lunch booking is also a hassle.

The drive also involves a ferry! and galston gorge! on the way home. Apart from the fact that its kinda dull to do the same thing every year, the tried and tested formula does work with a minimum of fuss. :D

That said, I will be there whereever it is.

Yep, agree with Kerrie. Having said that, we're always happy to travel anywhere. There's no beach at Wisemans is there?:p

well, yes. but they're water-skiing beaches. You'll need a black ute, with bundaberg stickers and truck mudflaps, a big boat, a bad american dog. It costs $32 to park, $90 to launch your boat and $16.50 if you fart in the water. :p

Fair call... yeah I'm happy enough to keep it to the traditional PITS to Wiseman's Ferry run. Now just have to sort out the date issue... looking like a close one between the 2 dates... but maybe the 10th might be the day.. 3 more days to vote on the Secret Santa date.. c'mon folks...

Correct, there is nice fish and chips there, but the parking is terrible. Not a good place to take a large group of cars.

Ah yes good point! .. well .. i tried! hehe :p

PITS sounds fun.. never been, and looking forward to it..

Everybody remembers the construction and parking at Terrigal but being a local i totally disagree, there is the skillion and the surrounding oval of which there is heaps of parking, two large car parks and all around the oval. They have great fish and chips shops down there by the boad ramp a little sheltered bay for kids to have a paddle and a oval to kick a ball around or fly a kite. Yes getting into and out can be a problem in school holidays but once u r there it is worthwhile. But i will go with majority. That being said i won't bother trying to organise a free bbq as that is where it would of been and no one seemed interested anyway.:frown:

Either date is fine by me Louis.

Gotta go it is our 15th wedding anniversay today and we r going down to Terrigal actually for a Thai meal.

I voted for the 10th. further to those comments i wish to add: I'm busy that day. I'm doing a tarmac tour of Sydney airport with my mum.

what's wrong with the 3rd?

come on everyone - revolve around me :D

Congratulations for making 15 years Ann ;) :D Hope you and Peter had a nice night out.

(The skillion is indeed nice, getting anywhere near it on a summer weekend and parking even 10 minis would still be quite a staggering challenge though - remember the very first coast run - we ended up at the pub after a messy attempt at the skillion. I somehow missed your bbq idea though).

Heck, this is getting a bit ridiculous... poll is 9 (10th) and 7 (17th) + 2 from the other forum.. so it's a dead tie... bloody heck!

Hmm... I'll make an executive decision and say it's the 17th... close to the same date as last years.

There you go.. 17th Dec @ PITS!

Hi!

Hope it's OK for me (the newbie) to gate crash. Not been to a chrismas party where I haven't known anybody before, but at least my car is likely to feel at home!

Ok so this is all my news.

After being sick as a dog from a very expensive seafood lunch, i was pretty seedy all weekend. I had a HUGE poker final on Sunday down at Sylvania for a trip to Vegas. There is 30 000 people in the league i play in and 1200 qualified for this prize. After the Semi finals i then went into the Grand Final with 209 people. I played for 4hrs 45mins and came 35th. One of the last standing females. So i am quite proud of my results. Last season i came 49th in the state and this season i am pretty much on par at 49th again. Have been offered to be sponsored in the Aussie Millions at Crown Casino next January too and the 1st prize is $1 000 000. So gotta give it a go, u don't get this chance very often. Just got to meet with Solicitor to work out % and so forth. Will post some photos of the final when they r downloaded, ok.

Supermini got a super duper wash on Sunday and had heaps of people telling me how nice she looks. My baby looks nice and shiny. I am one proud mummy.

Is there any meet up this next Sunday??? Had a blast last weekend, just wanna do it again.

17th is now on the calendar, can't wait, already thinking of how i can decorate her. I will see if i can get a prize from Worthington, something mini for the best dressed car. Louis u can allocate a judge or do it yourself. What do u think????

Anyway that is all from me,

Ann

p.s already got my secret santa gift, was so good i bought one for myself too. LOL:biggrin:

Yeah well depends on how many Mini's get dressed up! Hopefully there'll be a few! I'm thinking of a pie eating comp... (Not the most eaten.. but the fastest pie eaten without spilling it all over yourself)... in the spirit of PITS... ;) I'll get a MINI prize of some sort for the winner. I figure something to keep the morning rolling along before secret santa, and the run to Wiseman's.

Hey Kerrie, we can just rock up at Wiseman's like last year right?! Shouldn't be a prob?

I think I gave them a call to warn them we were coming. Problem is, they will want to know how many are coming and getting a committment out of anyone is like trying to herd cats. I just told them 30 and an approximate time :D (Allow about an hour and a half to get everyone from PITS to Wisemans).
