: A few JCW details from my dealer. SonicTPA Nov 18th, 2006, 08:16 PM I went for a peek at a new MCS (and a play with the stereo to see if it showed ID3 tags on mp3s, and it does), and got talking about the new JCW.
Apparently, they're running the engine in a BMW 1 series as it gives them more room to play with it, and it's wheelspinning in 3rd. It's supposedly awesome. It definitely won't be a retrofit option either.
And the traveller should be out this time next year.
Any of this new info? Anyone know which one will come first? I'm thinking of waiting till next sept to upgrade from my MCS, and it might be around the same time if I'm lucky.

Sonic Paul Nov 18th, 2006, 08:21 PM Well, I know for a fact that they're testing the new JCW engine in, not surprsingly, MINIs. ;) :D
It would be pointless (not to mention very expensive) to use a 1 series shell/mule to test an engine for a MINI. Scrogg Nov 18th, 2006, 08:46 PM Good to know there are still dealers out there with so little to do all day they have time to make up ridiculous stories about what they 'know' and what is 'definitely happening'.
Gives the rest of us someone to point at and laugh about on courses and the like!
Helps the day pass more quickly. :D
But then, what do I know? If your dealer told you, it must all be true! Jaffa Racer Nov 18th, 2006, 10:16 PM Testing in a 1 series great news :biggrin9gp: JCW will have proper go-cart handling being rear wheel drive:baffled5wh: Rakey Nov 19th, 2006, 05:34 PM Testing in a 1 series great news :biggrin9gp: JCW will have proper go-cart handling being rear wheel drive:baffled5wh:
maybe they have put it in the boot and its the fastest 1 series in reverse, and no-one will ever suspect it for been the new JCW:p Jaffa Racer Nov 20th, 2006, 11:58 AM That will start tongues wagging a mid engined JCW :biggrin9gp: Scrogg Nov 20th, 2006, 04:26 PM That will start tongues wagging a mid engined JCW :biggrin9gp:
And if that doesn't persuade you to buy one, nothing will! :wink0st: dalboyne Nov 21st, 2006, 04:14 PM That will start tongues wagging a mid engined JCW :biggrin9gp:
Didn't there used to be a mid-engined AWD Metro-based rally car? So if poor old British Leyland could do it, it must be a doddle for BMW!? Paul Nov 21st, 2006, 04:19 PM The UNOFFICIAL Austin-Rover Web Resource (http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?mgrev6r4f.htm) <-- Rakey Nov 21st, 2006, 06:02 PM that thing was a killer fast car, no really, a proper killer:eek: AidenL Nov 21st, 2006, 06:05 PM I rember seeing Tony Pond testing the 6R4 on a rally over here back in the 80s ;)
He crashed it on the first day, got out and kicked it , walked away in disgust :p
I think Lesley has a 6R4 ;) Pobsey Nov 21st, 2006, 06:42 PM I like it, the 6R4 engine was the basis for the XJ220 engine :) Bet you dont hear many XJ220 owners telling their mates that one ;) chipcooper Nov 21st, 2006, 06:55 PM I have been told jcw tuning kit will be retro fit! My GP wheelspins in every bloody gear in the wet :D PaulusMaximus Jan 1st, 2007, 10:09 PM Oh my! A mid engined RWD or 4/AWD JCW? Obviously it will never happen, but the way I see it if they can remove all of the back from the GP then its all wasted space!!! (Not really, I'm an engineer!) but it would be enough to tempt me to pay into the mid 20's (Łk) for one! If its anywhere 250Bhp and its put to good use then I genuinely couldn't turn one down! My dealer will have me over a barrel!
