Hi all!

I am new to the world of MINI's having just bought my 1st one. Just thought it would be good to set up a thread where people could post details (and pics!!!) of mods they have done, large or small. e.g aero kits, chiping, remaps, light, exhausts etc etc

I really want an aero kit but that aint hapening for at least 6months! Probably will start by fitting some clear lenses to the indicators on the side panel, fit some brighter bulbs to the headlamps and maybe buy some lohen silver side grills, however undecided as might stay with black grills.

Cheers,

p.s had a quick search and could not find a similar thred so apoliges if there are!

have to be careful fitting an aero kit to a D as Mini do not recommend it

Firstly the front lower grille blocks air flow to the intercooler

and secondly the rear bumper does not fit as securely as it does on a cooper due to
the D having the battery in the boot like an S so the spare wheel plastic cover does not fit

however it can be done!!

Your car looks very nice! I really think it would finish mine off a treat. But I had to borrow money from my parents to buy the car, and they wouldnt be impressed if I asked to borrow more money, or paid nearly 1k for a kit! So im just gonna have to put up and shut up for now!

When you say it can be done, are we talking a big job to make it fit? I was also wandering what happens with the rear exhaust as it doesnt stick out like the petrol ones, yet there is a recess for the pipe to fit in?

That is the problem aesthetically, the big hole for the exhaust is still there, so you just end up with the little stub of the exhaust end (The standard exhaust) sticking out the big gaping hole in the Aero bumper, so it would be best to get an after market exhaust or just a back box. Aston just got an 'exhaust end' from Halford's  I think, that seemed to do the trick!

Good luck!

I think Miltek do an exhaust for the D. Another word of warning about the aerokit, insurance hike. Last week when I was phoning for renewal quotes all was fine with my mods until I mentioned the Aerokit, this seemed to push most insurers over the edge and the premium rocketed. Others however weren't bothered about it at all as it does not effetc the bhp.

Ok, probably wont bother with it for a while, especially if it has to be declared to the insurance company, im still in the high risk catogory due to my age! However if I do get round to it once im abit older etc I might just fit the front bit of the kit and the grilles and leave the rear as the ONE D's side skirts look pretty good anyway courtesy of the standard S items.

Which kind of disproves MINI's claim that they are all unique! ;)

I fitted the Aero too!
...even went so far as to fit the "S" rear Aero bumper and Exhaust so the tailpipes come out center.
......don't know if I have pics though:o

rear bumper a wee bit flimsy on its own, but not hard to fabricate a bracket to stiffen this;)
