My name is Theo.

I like pets, sunsets on the beach, long walks on rainy days, and poking fun at political figures who spent their History class periods at Yale in the basement of the frat house snorting coke. Perhaps if they had actually attended History classes they would have learned about the thousands of years of struggle in the Mesopotamian region. Oh yeah, and then there were the Crusades! Moreover, perhaps the events in that region during and after World War I would have better framed their contemporary views of the predicted outcome of military actions in that region. Wasn't it George Santayana who wrote "Remembering the past is for weenies"?

The person who puts up with these tirades is my partner of {gasp!} 36 years, Carol. She works as a Paralegal in the local county courthouse. We have two sons: Colin, who designs video game software for a Boston-area tech company, and Jonah, who, God willing and the creek don't rise, will be graduating from Pace University in Manhattan this spring. We have two pets: Sprocket, our beefy Main Cat who tips the scales at >15 lbs, and Ditto, our dainty Emergency Back-Up Cat. We used to have a Heinz-57 dog named Hershey, but she is now elsewhere, and is busy preparing to bite our Commander-in-Chief in the ass when he transitions into the afterlife.

I have been associated with MINIs On Top since 2004, mainly for the really neat yellow t-shirts and the cool yellow hat. I have continually been the "deadwood" in the organization, but the organizers haven't found that out yet. Please don't tell anybody...Hershey is still taking future requests.

Hi! I'm Cyclotouriste. I am a moderately good looking gentleman, but nothing to get all up in the air about. I enjoy bicycling, especially in the company of nubile, healthy females with a sense of adventure. I enjoy long walks, short piers, educated conversation and polite discourse.
I am navigating to find someone that would be willing to practice some S&M at the T&C - must be discreet of course. If you are a cook (preferably of Italian cuisine) that would make for a wonderful weekend.
I have been OnTop many times - never as a MINI though!

Theo, you are very good at introducing yourself!

I'm Becca and my hubby is Jar. I'm in graphic designing and Jar likes to play with fish. At the hatchery, of course, he's a bio-technician. I sit in front of a computer all day long and dabble in the Adobe software. On the side, I'm a weaver and do digital artwork--I have my own website, www.celestialsky.com. We both volunteer for this organization whose members are, or are about to become bionic--I'll leave that to your imagination.

My MCS '03 is named Bonnie Blue, modified with a 15% pulley drive & air intake filter.

My name is Ricardo, and I'm an alcoholic.

Oh, crap, wrong place.

I'm Ricardo, now on my second MINI, I live up in Vermont, single and childless (as far as I know), and I've been doing this MOT thing since it started as well, from a relatively little picnic with 60 or so to the big MOT-a-palooza it is now. That's me on the left below...

Boy, you miss a few days on here and all sorts of things pop up!
My name is Bert, and I am the non-Ricardo in the lovely picture above. I live in Michigan, don't own a Mini (unless Mini-vans count!), so I guess I'm a double-interloper on this forum!
I attended my first MOT last year with Maxamama, in honor of the dear departed Maxamini - my brother. It was a wonderful event, and a nice opportunity to get to really meet people that I just met in passing at Ed's services - much more fun atmosphere to be sure! It got a little emotional when MINI USA presented Mart with the plaque about Ed - but they were happy tears.
I still remember when I first came on this forum to read the thread about Maxamini - it was overwhelming, as I was stunned at the outpouring of feelings from all over the world - I had no idea Ed had touched so many people in such a short period of time (although I had a VERY good idea that Ed was touched, so to speak). I felt a bond with this community, even just through the user names. MOT last year gave me the chance to make those virtual bonds reality, and it confirmed that you truly are a special, special group of people.
I hope to be able to make another MOT event - whether its this year or in the future. I have my MOT grille badge sitting on my desk as a memorable paperweight.
Greeting to all the new MINIacs, and hugs to all of my old friends.
Ian, thanks for posting the picture of Ed! It was nice to see. :)

Hello, All, and thanks, Ian, for the introduction.

You're seeing this because I finally figured out how to add photos . . .

Anyway, I'm Pete, owner of 2002 MCS "Play On". Hit 90 mph on the way home from picking up the car at MOP and haven't looked back.

Closing in on 107,000 miles since that September, largely due to 4 1/2 years of a 125 mile roundtrip commute, but also trips to:

Indiana (Purdue)
Virginia (BMW CCA Oktoberfest at VIR)
Every MOT (morphed and not morphed  )

Oh, and I am a youth and high school soccer referee and instructor, hence the handle and the MINI's name.

I look forward to seeing friends and making new ones at MOT and the fourth Observatory tour (more info will be coming once registrations have closed).

Hello my name is Kevin, I'm from Woburn, MA. I am 25 and I'm a restaurant manager. I enjoy short walks on the beach.. I know its normal to say long walks, but I get bored easily. This will be my 3rd MOT, and I can't wait! My first ever MINI event was MOT '05, and I brought with me my best friend who fell in love with the MINI world. Throughout the year she played with the configurator, bought motoring gear, and generally obsessed over this car, but she just couldn't afford a new MINI. The point of this story is basically MOT '06 was one of the best weekends of my life. Not only did we have a great time doing all the MOT related stuff and meeting new MINI friends, but my friend won a 2-year lease of an '06 MINI! Last year I brought a couple friends who were MINI event virgins and after the trivia night one of them turned to me and said: "you know I thought you were just crazy, but now I see they are all crazy. I want a MINI."

See you in a couple months!
- Kevin
