I Have been offered a no money swap for my 6 month old ONE for a new shape. My Mini has got the pepper pack, 17" Bullets, full aero kit, sports seats, a/c and ipod thing and 3000 miles on the clock. The dealer said it would have to be a low spec R56, i.e small alloys, no aero kit etc, just a pepper pack probably. I have no money extra to spend. What should i do? Is an R56 really that good. If yes, what spec should i go for the max would be £13k and reiduals v. important! Thanks for your thoughts. :D

Why not test drive a Cooper? ONE is less powerful but should feel pretty much the same.

If you don't prefer the drive/build of the R56 keep the ONE you have.

How much loss are you having to take on your ONE? It's never a good idea to keep a car for such a short time.

I'm actually making a profit. I got the wheels and the aero kit on the cheap. Worked for BMW for my work experiance!!;) If i went ahead i'd be about £100 in profit. Is it possible to test drive a Cooper at only 17??

Your One sounds fab, but the R56 is in another league as regards build quality etc. If it were me, go for the R56, and as you earn, spend it on the R56 :D:D I really need to go to my local dealer about a job, just under a year till I can drive :D Maybe I can get a dis-counted R56 :S:D:)

Yea i suppose, the trouble is i need to pay my parents back for the car in the 1st place!

My dealer has spoilt me with freebies! It was only work experiance at the end of the day, free 17" alloys, £400 off the aero kit + free fitting, £500 of the screen price and free TLC and finally a good price on my parents p/x. Maybe their charity would extend to free 17"s for the R56 (essential if you ask me) but i don't want to push my luck.

Work experiance....... the best thing i ever did!:D

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo, keep the one you have got, having no extras on it would annoy you. But seriously, just trust your own instinct, and bear in mind that dealers never do anything if they are going to be at a loss!

ask the dealr if you can swap the alloys on the the new R56?

and fit a cheap set of 15s on the one when you trade it in

Is that really the case? I wouldn't have thought so.

Where did you get your information ;)

Great idea!

But why not just swap the wheels on the two cars?

I have decided to keep the R53 afterall, i went out for a drive in an R56 cooper and it felt very 'sensible' by comparison. It was refined with a smooth ride and had more space but it didn't engage me in the same way mine does. It was still a very nice car, just not worth the sacrifise at the moment. I hope that i havn't offended any R56 owners!
