Imported cars always used to be lumped together in the US because US cars were so dominant. Thats changing/changed now as the Euro and Jap companies have started to really flood the US market and US people have realised how poor some of thier cars they have been offered by Ford, Chrysler, Gm etc have been in the past. It is a vote picking your favorite cars and done in the style of the NCAA basketball playoffs. Yes, for you folks in the U.K., I should have provided a little bit of a lead-in explanation. I think it's meant as a lighthearted competition in the vein of our national college (NCAA) basketball championships, which are going on at the same time. Teams are seeded according to their regular season schedule and by the strength of the teams they defeated since the season started in November. They've done the same thing with various car models and have assigned them imaginary seeds. And the people at the cars.com website figured online fans of each car model would come to their site and vote for their favorites. And maybe browse at the rest of the site while they're there.
