It seems there are quite a few people who buy Coopers and then, very soon after, think that perhaps they should have got the S; I know it happened to me after getting our Cooper in '04 :rolleyes: :D

I never test drove an S before buying our original Cooper as I knew it was too expensive anyway and it wouldn't be right for Eeyore who was meant to share driving the car :rolleyes: Having taken delivery of the Cooper (and with Eeyore not driving it after all!), my thought was that I liked the Cooper so much that I was prepared to pay the extra now as I thought it would be "more of the same". I then took one out for a test drive and decided I preferred the Cooper anyway (relief!), it took nearly another 3 years to decide that the S was right for us after all!

Did you try the S before buying the Cooper? If so, why did you choose the Cooper in the first place?

What's made you decide that you would prefer the S after all?

I didn't test drive a S when i bought my 06 cooper because S is over my budget. There will be a 2007 mini cooper debut activity here in Montreal on 12th April. Don't know if there is any test drive. Hope i will have the same relief as you did after test drive:)

Jeez your mad!!! Make sure you get the very best out of your Cooper. (Without crashing it :D:D:D) Thats exactly why we didn't go for an S, we would easily have been smitten :D:D

My experience was with the R50 Cooper and R53 Cooper S and it was the heavier clutch / gear change and steering that originally put me off the R53; now that I've finally changed to the R53 S I couldn't be happier :D

The problem you will face on your test drive is that the R56 S doesn't seem to have any disadvantages over the standard R56 Cooper so it's really not going to do any good to your bank balance :rolleyes: :D

Go for it and enjoy yourself, otherwise you will feel sick every time you get overtaken by a R56S !

could not resist halliwell jones offered 13.5k, i said i would think about it, drove away and thought for all of 2 hrs then phoned up and paid deposit heres what i ordered

hi there lordy no it wasnt seeing your mcs at CR that did it, i think it was the damn salesman taking me out in a S what planted the seed
