: am i crazy now i want a cooper S picard Apr 1st, 2007, 12:07 AM only had my cooper for 3 weeks but i really now want a S. i keep kicking myself that i didn't order a S originally.
trouble is now i stand to lose a load on the cooper, what do you reckon i would get for it 3 weeks old 800 miles was 15800 new about 13000 ? or less ?
13000 is about the least i need as a cooper S in same spec as me cooper is 18500 - 19000 , and don't want to borrow more than 6000
or should i just stuck with a cooper.
arghhh help
well and truly bitten by the MINI bug pimbeche Apr 1st, 2007, 05:10 AM get the S if you really want it, and think about the amount you might lose, if it is worth the sacrifice then go ahead.. CC07ERS Apr 1st, 2007, 05:27 AM I did this when i got my 06 cooper now ive got an 07 S .Bite the bullet & get the S . Tigger, Eeyore & Roo Apr 1st, 2007, 07:00 AM It seems there are quite a few people who buy Coopers and then, very soon after, think that perhaps they should have got the S; I know it happened to me after getting our Cooper in '04  :D
I never test drove an S before buying our original Cooper as I knew it was too expensive anyway and it wouldn't be right for Eeyore who was meant to share driving the car  Having taken delivery of the Cooper (and with Eeyore not driving it after all!), my thought was that I liked the Cooper so much that I was prepared to pay the extra now as I thought it would be "more of the same". I then took one out for a test drive and decided I preferred the Cooper anyway (relief!), it took nearly another 3 years to decide that the S was right for us after all!
Did you try the S before buying the Cooper? If so, why did you choose the Cooper in the first place?
What's made you decide that you would prefer the S after all?

Tigger. picard Apr 1st, 2007, 09:26 AM i originally went to order a cooper and he took me out in a test drive in a cooper S. thinking the cooper would not be much slower i ordered one but i miss the kick you get from the S and the push you back into the seat feeling. even in a ten minute test drive i was impressed with this. i think i will go see the salesman and get a figure for my cooper if i am going to lose too much its going be a no to this i think super c00per Apr 1st, 2007, 10:21 AM I went to my local mini dealer and test drove the S, after that I didnt even bother to test the cooper because I knew it wouldnt be anything like it! Do the right thing and get the S, you cant enjoy driving properly without the whine of the supercharger!!! ALD0 Apr 1st, 2007, 10:39 AM Keep your Cooper for a year and then get an S :) picard Apr 1st, 2007, 10:49 AM I went to my local mini dealer and test drove the S, after that I didnt even bother to test the cooper because I knew it wouldnt be anything like it! that would be turbo charger
Keep your Cooper for a year and then get an S :)
i thought of that but then i am going to need more money because the cooper is going to be worth less. 85NIXMIN Apr 1st, 2007, 10:51 AM I wouldn't mind an "S" I would just love to see the difference it has over the Cooper... as I reckon my Cooper is pretty zippy... I'd hate to think how much more zippier the "S" is... M-iNdO Apr 1st, 2007, 10:52 AM BUY the "S"! before you lose more money on your Cooper!
I have (test)driven the Cooper and now i own the Cooper S (both R56 ofcourse). Believe me, i am glad i didn't buy the Cooper. The looks and the performance of the "S" leave the Cooper in the shadow. It's a lot of money but i'm sure you will be pleased. I only regret not having the satnav system because at the time i thought it wasn't worth the money.
GOOD LUCK! picard Apr 1st, 2007, 10:58 AM I wouldn't mind an "S" I would just love to see the difference it has over the Cooper... as I reckon my Cooper is pretty zippy... I'd hate to think how much more zippier the "S" is...
cooper is zippy but the S is more and its the relentless and effortless power that the turbo gives that makes it so much different tyrerc Apr 1st, 2007, 11:03 AM i kept my cooper for 9 months then changed to the S, dont regret it for one second.
I would keep the Cooper for 6 months at least mate enjoy it for abit, remember insurance and tax and petrol need to be factored into the new pricing.
You could go to Lohen.....................see if that helps starve the S off for a few more weeks ;) CC07ERS Apr 1st, 2007, 11:05 AM The difference between a cooper & an S is nite & day but you will loose @ least the vat from your purchase price . envy Apr 1st, 2007, 12:13 PM After 3 Weeks :O, Yes you are crazy.
After about 7 Months i decided i wanted an S. Went to my dealer and offered me £4k less than what i paid. Unfortunatley i couldnt afford that kind of loss.
Remember
Minus VAT and Minus your Options (Excl. Air Con, Chili, Met Paint and a little deprecitation = Your Trade in Value.
The dealer will make your profit on your car either way.
Myself - I decided to wait and its been a year now, and i have still my Cooper. Its best to like your car for what it is, and move the whole "Its quicker" to the back of your mind.
HOWEVER - I am still considering a New S later this year, as i should have a positive return in the car then, being owned for nearly 2 years :D
Whatever you decide... Good Luck :) ScottyBoy Apr 1st, 2007, 12:20 PM I would say get it! but you have got to think of the extra insurance, petrol, Tax etc etc if its all worth it and you can afford it then GO for it! you love it!!!! envy Apr 1st, 2007, 12:22 PM I tried to get a Valuation for your car off Glasses with 1k Miles, 07 Plate
And it said
No valuations are available for this vehicle.
Assuming due to age.. :( picard Apr 1st, 2007, 12:34 PM I tried to get a Valuation for your car off Glasses with 1k Miles, 57 Plate

well i am assuming they would sell it for about 15k looking at the cherished section knock off 2k so was hoping for 13k trade in
but then again you know what assumption is
am i being to optimistic there ? envy Apr 1st, 2007, 12:55 PM Possibly..
PM Sent :) Tigger, Eeyore & Roo Apr 1st, 2007, 05:59 PM I's suggest working out how much you would be happy to pay to change and get the dealer to make you an offer. If the figures look right go for it, if not simply hang on to the Cooper for while. You might be pleasantly surprised and you've got nothing to loose by asking them :)

Perhaps it was because there is no such thing as a 57 plate yet? envy Apr 1st, 2007, 09:31 PM I meant 07 :p
Simply thinking of my S on a 57 plate :p picard Apr 1st, 2007, 10:49 PM i may have some one at work wanting my mini for 14k which is more than i would get trade in i then only need about 4.5k to change
and he is willing to wait till i have mine
will keep you posted Fanis Apr 2nd, 2007, 09:45 AM Same thing happened to me...however I was lucky enough to change my order before the car went into production, so I did not lose anything.
I would suggest that you ask your dealer about a trade-in price....then check also how much you could sell it privately and if you can afford the difference, go for the S...it will give you a bigger smile! :D minimad17 Apr 2nd, 2007, 10:05 AM i may have some one at work wanting my mini for 14k which is more than i would get trade in i then only need about 4.5k to change

if that is the case then i would say change it because that is a great price for 1 espec if you put on another couple k miles and its a couple months older! I dont own a mini but have driven both the R56 S and the R56 cooper and the S is a thrill to drive! remember insurance, tax, fuel, mpg is all gonna increase so bear in mind those costs too!
Keep us updated! Lordy Apr 2nd, 2007, 12:17 PM Oh dear !! if i was you, i would get some cream for the bug thats biting, its a very hard reality when you sell a car very shortley after buying it , there was an artical in auto express about it 3 weeks ago, mini was stated at about 18 % and the average was about 24 % loss, where did you buy it from ? see if you can get a second hand MCS ? why not try our friends from Blackpool ? you where up there last week, speak to alison . i never test drove any of the old cars, or new ones before i ordered mine, as i did this last july. but i will be waiting for the works model with 230 bhp before i even think about changing it , the insurance on the mcs is about £650, not too sure what the MC is tho . Good luck with what you decide. and i hope it was not seeing my mcs at CR services that started you off . lol DerekH Apr 2nd, 2007, 03:08 PM I made the mistake to test drive the MCS first then the cooper as not looking to spend above £15K for a second car what a mistake that was as wanted the MCS after a long test drive never mind will get my car soon. I would go with your heart if afforable or try the dealer to sell your car for you at higher amount if you are buying a new MCS from them then yopu see how good they are, all the best Derek:red: JG.26 Apr 2nd, 2007, 09:24 PM Your dealer must be rubbing his hands with glee  picard Apr 2nd, 2007, 10:45 PM could not resist halliwell jones offered 13.5k, i said i would think about it, drove away and thought for all of 2 hrs then phoned up and paid deposit heres what i ordered
