: Minirun II007 MRC2K6 Jun 23rd, 2007, 06:07 AM Well its that time of year again ... OK, OK, so I'm really late :)
The 2007 MINIRUN CALGARY is on again. Write the date down on your MINI calender and check out the minirun website:
MINIRUN CALGARY (http://www.miniruncalgary.com)
I have one more thing to get done on the site - I have to get the credit applications approved for the on-line registration, but until then you can read about the times, etc.
Hopefully, by next week I will have everything up and running so everyone can get registered.
I started putting cards on MINIs around town today and will try to arrange to hand out some to anyone who wants to pass them around.
Spread the news - August 25th, 2007 ... I want to try to get 100 MINIs out (or as close as possible).
Remember - the more the MINI-er  Mini KAMP Jun 23rd, 2007, 07:10 AM Give me as many as you can Gord faster,Tobias! Jun 25th, 2007, 05:00 PM You'd better leave me a bunch - are you bringing any posters in for me to hang? As soon as they are laminated. Should be middle of this week. If you aren't there when I drop them off on my way to work, I'll leave them on your desk.
Thanks MRC2K6 Jul 1st, 2007, 09:31 PM It is now official. I am finished with the website. People can log in and register and pay, etc.
Please check it out and register when you can.

Spread the word ... it would be really neat if we could get close to 100 MINIs out. (And that means you guys in Edmonton, Red Deer, Canmore, etc. too.)
So if anyone would like some postcards to pass around, let me know - I have lots.
The more ... the MINIer ... :hmph: heli_guy Jul 2nd, 2007, 12:45 AM Looking forward to it. Can we pick up cards at the dealer to pass around??
Thanks,
Trevor. MRC2K6 Jul 2nd, 2007, 03:32 AM Looking forward to it. Can we pick up cards at the dealer to pass around??
Thanks,
Trevor.
Yup, just go steal some. :)
Actually if they start to run out I'll see if Andy can't drop some more off one day.
Thanks for the help.
Gord Ferroequine Jul 5th, 2007, 03:18 AM I went to go and tag a yellow Cooper at SouthCentre tonight, only to find that someone else had already left him a Minirun II007 card... :p MRC2K6 Jul 5th, 2007, 04:53 AM I went to go and tag a yellow Cooper at SouthCentre tonight, only to find that someone else had already left him a Minirun II007 card... :p
Hilarious, wasn't me ... MiniPapa Jul 15th, 2007, 06:49 AM Someone carded me for it today, too bad I already knew.
I passed it on to another lucky Mini though. See full details in the "Was it you?" thread. Mini KAMP Jul 16th, 2007, 02:00 AM Took cards up to Edmonton this weekend to try and spread the word, only saw one and that was going the other way!!!!
does anybody have one up there:confused: MRC2K6 Jul 23rd, 2007, 07:43 PM I had to put a new message on the MINIRUN site to remind people about the registration deadline - August 15th. (It would be ideal to know the numbers of people coming out for the run/dinner/dance sooner rather than later.) MRC2K6 Jul 28th, 2007, 07:32 PM Latest news - the casino changed the meal to a Hot Roast Beef and Chicken Bufffet, so everyone will have their choice of the two on the 25th.
Also this year are now presenting a "Best Costume" trophy and prize. So dress your team up!
Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you all on the 25th. RS3TURN Aug 15th, 2007, 03:49 PM Well I went to register, but I really wish there was a 'no dinner option.'
I have a commitment in the evening, and I'm not prepared to spend $120 just for the drive....so I will not be attending this year. Too bad, was looking forward to it.
Have fun! :D Ferroequine Aug 16th, 2007, 05:16 AM I'm having a few issues registering (I'm fairly certain they are on my end), but no fear, we will be there.
Are you doing decals for the car doors again? If so, what are the chances of getting a set a few days early, so that I can put it on straight? :p (Would do a bit of last minute promotion also). MRC2K6 Aug 16th, 2007, 05:46 AM Yup, decals are a go (in colour too). I'll have to see about getting them to you early? I am picking them up on Aug 22nd.
I had to extend the registration deadline (and post the change on the website) to August 20th as people are slow and I am hoping to get a couple of ads in the Herald (keeping my fingers crossed). I can't go any later than that because of dinner issues, but I don't want to have to cancel the run so I'm hoping more will just log in and register in the next few days. MiniPapa Aug 16th, 2007, 06:12 AM I've got a conflict now. That sucks.:frown:
I'll see what I can do to get around it. I didn't get to the last one either. RS3TURN Aug 16th, 2007, 05:25 PM Well I went to register, but I really wish there was a 'no dinner option.'

Gord,
Do you need any help the day of? As I mentioned I won't be in the run as I can't stay for dinner and paying $120 for the drive doesn't make sense to me, but if you need some volunteers please let me know. I am free in the day time... MRC2K6 Aug 17th, 2007, 12:13 AM Thanks, but so far the Charity is supposed to be able to find all the volunteers I'll need. But I'll let you know if I run short.
I'm not sure what I should do next year (maybe forget about a Dinner-Dance). Last year most people indicated that they wanted a dinner or barbeque after the first run, but it seems that this year no one wants it. I'll have to see because it is too much time and money to go through all the arranging if everyone just wants to drive. I may be out of line here, seeing that everything is planned....and don't get me wrong, the run was excellent last year as I'm sure it will be this year. This year it is just an issue of time commitment for me.
I would guess the comment about dinner/bbq came up last year since most of us drove through lunch (and us 'late risers' did not eat breakfast), and then we had to wait around for hours after the run for scores to be calculated (understandable...and I'm not complaining) but many of us were starving by then, so we were eyeing the buffet in the casino...lol. We didn't know what to expect going in..ie: how long the run will take, should we stop for lunch, in breakfast provided, etc. I would definitely plan ahead this year. Seems like a reasonable explanation to me.
If you need help with numbers I will see what I can do to contact those I know that are not on this board. I know the first year no one knew what to expect so it was kind of wierd. But I think the comments also meant that people wanted more of a chance to socialize. So that's what I was hoping for this year. Plus I've also been told that people are still away on holidays so that kind of sucks.
Anyway, any word that you can get out I would really appreciate as I don't really have any other ways of getting the word out and the final deadline is getting close.
Thanks for the help.
Gord Ferroequine Aug 22nd, 2007, 06:13 PM So, are we on then?
Yeah, baby, yeah! British SD Aug 22nd, 2007, 09:12 PM Maybe he skipped town with his plump Nigerian Bank account in tow!:p MRC2K6 Aug 23rd, 2007, 04:59 AM I just got a call tonight from another person wanting to enter! Yes, we are running full tilt on Saturday, but just as a little more of a cosy number, that's all. We will have to worry about making it big next year ... but this year I can guarantee is going to be fun!!! Oh and did I mention a bit of a challenge ...
Another question I was asked was about the costumes - is there a theme? No theme, just dress in whatever goofy outfit you can think of ... and no Craig ... dressing as a MINI brand specialist doesn't count. Also you can wear your costume for the run, the dinner-dance or both. Entirely up to you - but just remember, judging stops just before the dinner when the trophies and prizes are handed out.
See you at 10:00am on Saturday! Anyone who wanted signs early will have to pm or e-mail me.
Gord dorkboy Aug 26th, 2007, 06:27 AM Thanks again Gord!! Jayne and I really really enjoyed ourselves and we really appreciate all the hard work that you and your family (and anybody else) put into today's event!
We both can't wait until next years event.
Let me know if there is anything you want do for you!
Scott and Jayne Mini KAMP Aug 26th, 2007, 03:14 PM Great day Gord
By far the best Mini event of the year
Thanks again from KAMP and Bill mark-o Aug 26th, 2007, 03:33 PM We had a really good time - except for missing a stamp at MINI Crowfoot and having to go all the way back there!
We were very impressed with the level of organization and overall event quality. It was very well put together.
Thanks again Gord. Ferroequine Aug 26th, 2007, 03:50 PM Thanks also from us. Excellent job, and it was a great day. Going from one place to the next was like 6 separate little road trips; good times.
Also, good job on organizing the media. They had a piece on the 11:00 news of all the MINIs leaving the parking lot. And apparently a picture in today's Calgary Sun.
Already looking forward to attending the next one!
Ooo, Behave! MINI Artist Aug 27th, 2007, 04:58 AM I cannot believe how much fun that was!! Way to go Gord and family!! Fantastic event.
Vee put up a gallery of the photos I took. Not many....keeping up with Vee meant less time for pics!... But here they are.

T :) MRC2K6 Aug 27th, 2007, 05:49 PM Thanks everyone for coming out to the 2nd MINIRUN!
Lots of fun making it all up and trying to surprise everyone with something new.
Next year, I'll have to work hard to come up with another new format or throw in something different. But I think I may cut it down a bit (long day with everyone getting tired in the end).
Anyway, thanks a lot for all the support ... now I'm going driving ... | |
