: New eagle F1 Gsd3's ! Minipnut Aug 18th, 2007, 03:33 PM OMG there is such a big improvent in handling and the ride, although i coudlgt get 215/45/17's had to settle for 215/40/17's but damnnn, the twisties down the back i think i need to step it up abit on, before when the car would squeel like a mad man around it just turning in quite carmly.
anyways ill stop ranting
Callan fergusor Aug 18th, 2007, 04:15 PM Good to hear, I'm thinking of going for them myself!! My runflats are due for changing at the front...
Are they better in the wet than the runflats?
Richard. Bhozar Aug 18th, 2007, 05:22 PM Are they better in the wet than the runflats?
Yes. Minipnut Aug 19th, 2007, 04:57 AM Hellz yes ^_^ sam_a156 Aug 19th, 2007, 05:49 PM Did the same this spring. It is by far the one single mod that has made the biggest difference to my car.
Sam S33BBY Aug 19th, 2007, 07:14 PM I changed my Pirelli runflats for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s a little while ago. The difference is amazing, just amazing. The ride is firm yet so much more confortable, the car goes where you tell it to (unlike the Pirellis), and the handling is significantly better, in both the wet and dry. Minipnut Aug 20th, 2007, 05:56 AM *praises the goodyear gods* Mini_me Aug 20th, 2007, 02:55 PM Hi Mini2ers,
What size and speed rating of the goodyear eagle F1s did you fit?
I just want tyres and am trying to figure out if they are also available in 195/55 R16.
Due to the extremely restrictive regulations in Germany, I would have to find an officially approved wheel trye package if I want to go with anything but the standard trye size.
Got the F1s for my other car and really like them. S33BBY Aug 20th, 2007, 06:19 PM :readme: Tire Statistics (http://www.mini2.com/forum/index_vba.php?page=tyrestats) Mini_me Aug 20th, 2007, 09:57 PM Seen that already - it is good info ;) but is unlikely to cover everyone and certainly doesn't show anyone with 16" rims and the F1s :(
Maybe the Goodyear site will have some info .... brb Mini_me Aug 20th, 2007, 10:16 PM according to the 'tyre manager' on the Goodyear site the F1s don't seem to be on offer for the size I need :hmph:
Anyone with another suggestion/recommendation? cristo Aug 21st, 2007, 12:42 PM perfectly allright to use 205/50/16.
I had Bridgestone S-03 and now have Dunlop Sportmaxx in that size,
and the Goodyear F1 GSD3's do come in that size as well.

Not in Germany. You have to experience it to have any notion of how picky the 'powers that be' are in this Country ! As I mentioned I would have to get an 'approved for the Mini Cooper S' wheel&tyre package otherwise the only option is to pay for an individual customisation approval having the changes (tyres mounted) first and no garuntee that I get the approval =possible money wasted on tyres I'm not allowed to use.:mad::confused::mad::angry: S33BBY Aug 21st, 2007, 06:25 PM Just ordered four of these, should be on the car by the weekend. The difference will be unbelievable! I've got 17s as well on my MINI and the move from runflats to conventional tyres really was better than I expected. :) Bulldog1970 Aug 25th, 2007, 03:24 PM Just got back from the tyre fitters who have fitted my eagle f1's... What a difference!:aargh: I think they have swapped the car, not the tyres. No more batterings on the way home from a 11 hour night shift... Just hope I don't fall asleep with the comfort. S33BBY Aug 25th, 2007, 05:56 PM Now you have normal tyres, you'll realise that runflats have absolutely no give whatsoever! Mini_me Sep 5th, 2007, 08:36 PM I decided in the end to squeeze as much out of the current run flats as I can. The winter wheels/tryes will be going on in a few months and I probably go for conti PremiumContact2 or Bridgestone Turenza in spring. They seem to do quite well in the tests reports I've read and come in the original 195/55R16 size that won't cause me any problems with the law.
Just rebooted the 'family' car so now have the F1s all round on that. Great tyres. I instantly notice sharper turning when I got the fronts done last year. | |
