Ok, already checked if this has been posted.

Tonight my mate was standing next to my car, well about 3 meters away. When he unlocked his saxo (aftermarket "GT" alarm/remote central locking) my Halo sidelights turned on for about 3 seconds, they also did the same when he locked it.

Any ideas why they do this? dosnt really bother me its just really wierd

Mine do this when i unlock my car and lock it, when the car has been running for a while they are stil lit up for sometime when the engine is off, ive had people knock on my door saying my lights are still on lol.

Ye, mine stay on when I turn the car off and also come on when I unlock it but they actually stay on for a few minutes. With the saxo remote they come on for literally 2-3 seconds

nothing to worry about, if you sit at your window watching you're lights at night (i did) then you will notice the halos come on and off all the time when you're parked up. its something to do with the mini sending current down to check the bulb hasnt blown, its such a small current that only LEDs will light up. Ours only light up a bit (quite dim) but when people ask i just say its part of a posh alarm. hope that helps.

When I was at the Charity Ball last year, went out into the car park (full of MINIs), and my remote turned on another MINIs sidelights! :D

Just two frequencies that are very close I guess....

With Mini cabrio on that, Frequencies i guess. LED Halo's often stay on for a while due to low voltage. There are mentions on a number of threads/sites about this. Perfectly OK tho from what i can gather.

Saw this again at the weekend, and any key seemed to have the same effect.

Whne you press a key, it must energise a module in the car, this module then checks the key code to see if it's a match. I guess this module energising causes some residual current through the car and the sidelights turn on.

Didn't happen with the new LED tail lights though - they must be on a separate circuit.
