If you knew me from here before, tell me what you've been up to the past 2 years.

I drank a lot of good beer.
I drove a lot (Chicago and back, twice).
I moved a few times (currently in Inman Sq).
My MINI engine died at 107,000mi so I put a new (used/11,000mi) engine in it.
I worked on a feature length independent movie (boom op).
My sister moved to Amsterdam, and I'll be spending Thanksgiving with her over there.
My parents retired.
I applied for a new job, and never heard anything back.
I applied for a better new job, and got a call back yesterday.
I got some more tattoos.
I ate hot dogs.

Go.

And I'm still ready to kick your skinny azz in the parking lot!:)
You coming to the Cape for Lighthouses? I'll buy you lunch at Dave's BBQ if you do.

How many planes do Fidelity have, or don't we want to know..! ;)
Tell us more about the film - what's it called, when can we see it..?
Did you get any good designer vinyl in the last two years? I just got a lead on an Erick Scarecow Liberty.

Steve - Sundays are a no-go with the current job...probably can't make the Cape thing. Unless I left after work and met up down there.
Gav - It sounds like a killer job...it's both operational and financial, and I don't have much finance experience, so that's what they called to ask me about on Friday. I still hope to get another call.
The movie is called "Douglas". Some stills can be seen here: FILM STILLS - a photoset on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/douglasthemovie/sets/72157601119990274/)

It's being edited now, and they want to get it into some film festivals next year...we'll see. I think it was done for only around $30,000 but it looks excellent...and it was fun!

Neg on the vinyl...the only thing I'm looking forward to is my buddy Brian's release "The Family": Vinyl Pulse: Proto Monday >> The Family by Brian Morris (http://www.vinylpulse.com/2007/08/proto-monday-th.html)

This thread was not successful.
I didn't really learn anything new about anybody.
Disappointed to say the least.

All the news is elsewhere, but here's my summary:
The house was broken into while we were asleep upstairs. They stole laptops, camcorder, wallets etc.
When I went to the PO to mail the claim form for that, a woman in a minivan hit my car over the front driver's side wheel.
Two weeks ago I passed out because I'd lost more than half my blood to a bleeding ulcer caused by taking too much Aleve at the direction of an orthopedic surgeon. Spend several days in Lahey and had to have 5 pints of blood and who knows how much saline.
It's been a fun summer..!

I think my first post was "heh" in the OT thread.
Then I went out and searched out the good threads (hot dogs/food/etc).

Heh, you're obviously not paying attention. That's why I was wondering why you thought you were so clever for guessing who rknrll was..! ;)

How long before Brian repeats his question..? I don't think he was here when the screen name formerly known as pezboy was around...

Yeah, things have been crazy, but we're doing OK. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right..? We now sleep with a baseball bat by the bed and an alarm system armed, and I'm taking drugs to repair the damage the other drugs did, but it's OK. It could have been a lot worse in every situation.

Did you hear back about the job yet..?

Great to see you posting, Jared :)
Sorry for slow response; I was on vacation (http://www.margaretandian.com/2007/09/03/driving-in-maine/) ... that's something I've been doing quite a lot the past two years ;)
In particular, last year I flew to Monterey, CA, picked up a new MINI, and drove it back ... MINI Takes The States (but I bet you've heard about that!)

Actually, I bet you know all my news, MINI changes, etc. Can't surprise you here ... so let's see, in response to your list:
I've not drunk any beer. There's a beer in the fridge (been there at least a year)
I drove a lot (coast to coast, back from Florida, GPMINI got 18K miles in one year)
I didn't move at all (we thought about it, but getting somewhere as nice as where we are now in a different place would just cost too much)
My MINI engine hasn't died (I don't keep them long enough for any risk of that!)
I didn't make a movie (unless you could MINI United (http://www.gbmini.net/wp/2007/08/mini_united_2007_video/))
My sister still lives in Leeds, England - but she bought a second home in Spain! And I visited Amsterdam ;)
My parents still work; no news there.
I didn't apply for any new job - working for the same place I did when I emigrated in 1996; nice job (hence all the MINIs).
But we do now have a second MINI owner working there too.
No tattoos. Very few hot dogs. Quite a bit of ice cream though ;)

And for those (Brian?) that don't know Jared, here's a pic:
http://www.gbmini.net/G2/d/12130-3/PICT0013.jpg (http://www.gbmini.net/wp/2005/08/a_grand_day_out_in_boston/)
Since the pic is two years old, I don't claim that he looks anything similar now - maybe he's lost some hair ;)

Oh, I have a newer picture - and he has MORE hair:
http://www.gbmini.net/G2/d/449-4/IMG_4681.jpg (http://www.gbmini.net/wp/2007/01/f1_boston/)

And here's his MINI, if you care - at least, this was his MINI back in 2003!

How long before Brian repeats his question..?

"Yeah," said Zaphod with a sudden evil grin, "you'd just have to program [the replacement electronic brain] to say What? and I don't understand and Where's the tea? — who'd know the difference?"

"What?" cried Arthur, backing away still further.

"See what I mean?" said Zaphod and howled with pain because of something that Trillian did at that moment.

I don't think he was here when the screen name formerly known as pezboy was around...
I think I met him and baker at Dan's wake. :(

Jared! Now it couldn't have been two years, but then I've seen you at times others haven't. Since buying a house in newton (on the wrong side of the tracks) I've been too busy to have my bbq's too often, but I'll have to invite you again. My girlfriend wanted a mini of her own so now I have two here. And Ian just couldn't talk enough about MINIs at work so he brought me in. And the last beer I drank was an Allagash Curieux aged in oak and bourbon barrels, 11% abv....yum.

Ian and Josh - thanks for the updates.

Ian - MORE HOT DOGS!! Come on!!

Josh - did you hit the German Beer Fest? I thought $40 was a little steep...but I also made plans to go to this Boston Film Night thing with someone, so I couldn't make the Fest. I think there is a Belgian one coming up though.

I'm going to Amsterdam for a week and a half to visit my sister, in November - will probably hop a train and go to Belgium for some beers!! With any luck, I will find some dutch broad to fall in love with me, and sponser me so I can move over there - heh.

No, it was on my long list of things that I had to miss this weekend (phantom fest, two mini events, beer festival, friends' party) for the last of the weddings this summer.
But the Belgian beer fest has been on my calendar, with still nothing in its way on oct 27. The Beer Advocate fests are not quite as good as nerax in somerville, but still excellent. The price is higher because it includes drinks (Not sure if it is now unlimited or still ticket-based). And they're usually catered by Sunset.

Of course I'd much rather have my own belgian beer fest in the real place...that's why that country has been on the top of my to-visit list in europe! Have fun.

I too only met you in person at Dan's funeral , but I totally remeber you as Pezboy on this site.
let's see..........last 2 years huh? Ok:
-buried the last of our parents
-bought some land in Costa Rica
-decided to retire in Jan.
-started building dream house in costa Rica
-haven't had a beer in 16 years (friend of Bill's)
-brought mileage on my '02 up to 101,000 (so I should start looking for motors soon, eh?)
-transitioned to the new owner of the company I have worked at last 7 years( just recently learned that if I post their name any where on the internet, they have a retrieval program to check it out, so the name will remain unsaid................ *lame*
