After several problems with my convertible, including a roof which would no longer convert, I decided it was time for a change.

I went down to the local stealer this morning and had a test drive of the R56 One, and I have to say, I was very impressed. On the test drive the engine felt very refined and pulled brilliantly, especially considering as there were 3 of us onboard and the AC was on.

Following that, and if tomorrow goes to plan, I shall have put the deposit down on this little baby...

The showroom One, which they had only had in for two days! Its got Pepper Pack, Sports Seats, Piano Black Interior trim and a couple of other bits..

It shall be given the full Serby treatment with a white and black theme, including my Black and Chrome alloys (if they fit) and hopefully some unique graphics.. when I can think what I want!

I'll be sad to see the cabrio go, but I'm sooo excited about the new motor.... especially as I have had an insurance quote for the R56 which is less than half what I am paying on the cabby!:D

Can't wait:D

Thanks:) I'm much the same, I wasn't a fan when they first came out, but I love them equally as much as the 1st Gen now:D

Cheers Rams. Hopefully one day, with enough mods, I can get my One looking nearly as tasty as your S:cool:

Congratulations Serby. I'll also be sorry to see the Cabrio go - I love that car! However, I'm sure once the Serby treatment is complete on this one it'll be even better. :)

Thanks for the comments:)

Congrats on the new car!!

Shame to hear about problems with the convertible - what happened there?

There were several faults which led to me losing trust in its reliabilty:(

- Heater controls which don't illuminate
- Brake lights stopping on after having parked up and left the car (pretty wierd I thought)
- A roof which won't detach from the top of the windscreen on the drivers side :(
- Numerous rattles

As of Thursday all of the above should hopefully be fixed under warranty. However, these faults combined with high insurance due to it being a cabrio (well it use to be anyway:p) and my age, along with a soon to expire warranty made me think it was time to move on.

I've just started stripping it back to standard, not a fun job... but hopefully the R56 will be a fresh start:D

Hi mate,

Thought you would post a thread somewhere and you have!
Congrats on the new car, 4th now isn't it, catchin me up :p

Be good to see the transform of the R56 model.

R.e your brakelights staying on, had that on my Derv and it's a known fault, a switch that needs replacing, affected a certain batch of builds I think, anyway thats gone now.

Sorry I disapeared off messenger last night, I was installing a load of updates lol.

Speak soons

I had the brake light problem Aug 04 build MO, they replaced the BC1 module. First time I noticed it was when I was coming out of the shops. I went back to the car and the lights were on, first reaction was'you idiot' I thought I'd left them on, then I noticed that the third brake light was on and realised that it was the brake lights. I had quite a few issues with that car but now I've changed to a Aug 07 MCS and 'm very happy:D

Thanks for the comments, its interesting to read about the brake light fault, it really freaked me out when it happened to mine!

Just a little update, the deposit has been paid on the R56 and I'm now just waiting for my plate to be transfered:D

Apparently the MCS and the MC grills are different but Chip changed his for the black cooper Aero grill which gives the same /similar effect.

Cheers for the comments:)

I think the black grille on Pepper White R56's looks awesome... It's a mod I intend to do to go with the white and black theme I've got planned:cool:

Heres a link to adam_Randells' thread with pics of his Cooper with, I believe, a Cooper S front bumper & grill. I think it looks gorgeous, much sportier than the chrome look:cool::D

A slight mess up with insurance papers means I've got at least another week to wait until my new baby arrives... despite this I'm still just as excited:D:p

Wooooooo:D:D:D Its awesome! .... It may only be a 1.4 and I'm currently "running it in", but it feels fantastic:D

Unfortunately my black and chromey's wouldnt fit, so I'm probably going to buy some new aftermarket rims, unless I can get my BSA's to fit without too much trouble:confused:

So far I've fitted a shorty aerial, clear side repeaters, and debadged it.. I've also got a spare set of side vents which I'm going to have a go at spraying.

Anywhoo.. here are some pics of the motor at the moment..
