Yes, the last one of the season is (all too rapidly) approaching . . .
Friday October 26th, 2007 through Sunday October 28th, 2007 - 7:00am
Held at NHIS
Cost: $190/$355/$495 for 1/2/3 dayshttp://www.whitemtn-bmwclub.org/hpd_school.html

To wet your whistle, here's a video from inside my MINI at Watkins Glen last week:

YouTube - Play On at Watkins Glen

One of the faster laps, but still room for improvement!

Starts with pit out, fades to one and a half laps (overtaking a Corvette and then a Lotus Elise) before taking the checkered flag and fading to the ride into the paddock area.

The first day and most of the second I was in run group 2. I was "promoted" to run group 1 (not solo) for the last run on the second day. Damn, those cars were fast! I hit 112 mph at the end of the back straight in fourth gear while the others in run group 1 were hitting 120, 130 easy!

Boy, NHIS will seem short and tight compared to the Glen . . .

Nice work on the rumble strips in the inner loop.

I was amazed to realize I'd gone through "the bus stop" at 70 mph! Can you imagine how much faster I'd go if I could heel-and-toe while downshifting for the turns?

You were technically correct, Rick - it rained at the Glen! Fortunately, it was Wednesday night so only the first run on Thursday still had damp spots. Otherwise those concrete patches would have been really exciting!

I forgot to mention the Spec stage two clutch and the Fidenza lighted flywheel in the credits. (Probably due to the great difficulty I had with a local mechanic doing the install . . . Tried to put that out of my mind! ) Altogether, the new parts cut out about 25 lbs. compared to stock and increased the noise level dramatically.

Sadly, I won't be able to attend that weekend.

I kept the track tires on just for the event and now I can't go. Oh well, I guess that means I will need to do ALL the events scheduled once school gets out! I'll miss everyone!

I'll be at NHIS Saturday the 27th and all day Sunday the 28th, assuming the tires hold out :)

Pete, great time at The Glen last week. The Seneca Lodge is quite the place, isn't it? Racing history literally oozing from the walls and the ceiling. After two days at The Glen (and 8pm Thruway mall traffic around Albany :shocked7fl: ) my front brakes are now toasted. You were definitely faster (at least on the first day), especially up through the esses and in the boot. Keeping the foot down most of the way did the trick for sure. I never did master the "rim shot" along the boot, as well as you. I have footage from most of my runs, but will be this next weekend before I can edit it all down.

The owner of Seneca Lodge has a Mini (EB/B), but no one I know has gotten him to wave back.

You gotta love those manly hands on the steering wheel in the video! But I was puzzled why you don't wear gloves. Is it because you want to feel the road more?

I wish I could have been at the Glen. And I wish I could fo to NHIS.

I may head down for the ADSS on October 20, but that's as close as I'm going to get, at least until next Spring. :(
