Am I right in thinking that this experience day is telling a few porkies?

Its saying that the R53 Cooper S can do the 0-60 in 5 seconds! I dont think any Mini has ever been that quick has it, not even the GP or the Cooper Challenge cars??

Very optimistic.... anyone who's bought one of these has had the product miss-sold to them ;)

They don't even say it will be a Cooper S, they only mention a MINI Cooper :p

looks like they have pulled it as the link went through to a 'page could not be displayed' with a message reading: "We made a mistake
If you got to this error page by following a link on our site, we've probably made a mistake."

Having done a similar race experience day, I should also point out that:
"cars are shared between the drivers on the day"

...means that you'll be driving around a track with 4 people in the car (usually all men). Therefore, the car will feel very heavy and performance will suffer accordingly. :hmph: 0-60 in five seconds? I'd say nearer ten than five! :p

All the best,
Andrew.

A good friend done one of these days at Croft Circuit last year, he drove 4 different cars and 1 of them being a Modified MINI Cooper S which was very quick, although 5 seconds is very optimistic.

Then you have the points brought up by Andrew, make it an event id rather not attend when you have other people in the car!

The link still works, although it just says 0 to 60, doesn't specify mph so it isn't necessarily making a bold claim!

But it does say it will do 0 - 60 in five seconds.

Yes, but they could mean 0-60 km/h in 5 seconds ;)

It might say MINI Cooper Racing, but the picture is clearly an S. They're pharmacists so 0-60 could be anything. Metric, I don't think they ever went imperial! :p Although clearly they have no scruples :p

Boots have a history of making misleading claims. They had signage up in their stores a while ago that said "none of our lunch products contain hydrogenated vegetable fats", along with some marketing crud that made it seem as if they'd long known that these fats are bad for you. On the shelf opposite were lunch products containing vegetable fats, and almost all of their chocolates and some of their crisps previously contained these fats. I wrote to them, and they ignore every point I made in my letter and said that the products were not beyond their best before dates so everything was OK. Well, that's a relief.

I didn't bother replying.

As far as I can tell, the topic of the thread was Boots telling porkies.
