Hey, i am nearly 17 and have been crazy about minis since the 1st gen came out in 2000. im 17 in feb and i am getting a mini one but i want the car for the 08 registration. is it too early to order it? my dad asked a couple of months ago and they said it would take 3-4months for delivery. is this still the case? any help would be appreciated!:D

Lead times are different at every dealer, as they are given an allocation for each model. Busier garages may have their allocation all sold for a few months, whereas may have spare build slots available.

Ideally, you need to find a dealer who can give you a build slot in february, that way it should be at the dealers around the beginning of march. Remember, a car can arrive at the dealers early, and they then just wait until 1st march to register it ;)

Crazy about MINIs since the age of 10! Good for you :D

I really can't think of a better 17th birthday present and I'm sure it will have been worth the wait!

You won't have to decide on your final spec straight away - about 1 week prior to build you car will go into 'spec lock' after which you can't change it. But if you get the urge to add something in the meantime, you can do ;)

Mind you, I can't complain. I was driving my mum's Ford Fiesta XR2 when I was 17. Not that you're old enough to know what an XR2 is!

Not quite push button... you turned the ignition on at the steering column and then lifted a lever like a very tiny handbrake lever to activate the starter motor :D

£50 profit in 2 weeks! Well done!!

Ofcourse, the one I had had a fully carpeted dashboard! Beat that Stiggy!!! :D

very nice spec indeed but for that kinda spec i would contemplate ordering a cooper!....i ordered my S for a march 08 last month....i would do it asap ...good luck with it!

i really really wanted a cooper and i was allowed one but as my mum and dad are buying the car i have to pay insurance etc and most places will not insure me on the cooper and if they do its about 2000(living in aberdeen doesnt help any! as soon as u say AB it goes up!) so i decided on a one(insurance about 900) and spec it up. i am gonna eventually work my way up 2 an s!!:D

Blooming sensible too :D No need to waste £1100 a year on insurance!

I have the sat nav in my car, unless it was seriously improved on the newer models I wouldn't bother with it, my tomtom is loads better! Nice spec though, heated seats will be great in Aberdeen, how about heated front windscreen as well to speed up defrosting!

Cool spec, sounds great, personally i wouldnt get the satnav, even though it looks great, it is alot of money, ive got it in my car and its not fantastic.

yeah the heated windscreen would be a good idea might add that in ive convinced myself i will clean out our garage and put the car in there, we have a double one but i know i will probably just be so lazy to do it so it will just lie there in the cold. 4days till i order it!!:D thanks for the advice on the sat nav will probably go for the tom tom.

I am ordering my cooper s for the new 08 reg as well and my dealer said to order it by the end of december to guarantee delivery for 1st March.... He said build time was about 6-8 weeks... Hope this helps....
