I've just joined the ranks of mini owners with an 04 MCS. Wifey also has a mini, she got one of the first Coopers out here in WA back in 02 and still owns it, complete with all of the 'engineered' rattles the early cars seem to suffer from. Anyway, seats....I want to fit a pair of JCW Sparco seats to my car however I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with $2400 (approx 1200 pounds) a seat plus fitting as quoted by my dealer. I'm assuming that for that princely sum they will come with adjustable bolsters and the provision for heating? I didn't dare ask!
Being an 'expat' I suppose I could source some in the UK however shipping and import duty would probably kill any saving. Anyone in Oz have any suggestions?

I wondered if the offer is still valid for a R53 and if you could ship them to France ?

A few questions for Chris, one for everyone else:

i. Are these likely to be available from you at a good price on an ongoing basis i.e. early next year when I'm thinking of buying a new JCW?

ii. Was the 'heating' question ever answered, as I would hate to spec heating (switches) on a new car and then find that the Recaros don't have the facility anyway? The sales department at my local dealer claims that they *don't* have heating elements.

iii. Can you optionally supply the alcantara ones at a good price?

iv. To everyone: will my dealer take it well if I buy these from Chris and ask them to fit them in a new car? They are quoting me like £2,225 fitted (rip off), but I don't want to find that they penalise me and charge £400 or something for fitting if I supply them to go in the new car, when it should be around £200 really. Anyone got any experience of this?

PS. Chris, are you in parts or sales, I've never really known... just wondering if I should be buying the whole car from you!

Hi jay,
I work in the Parts department here at Woodmans looking atfer all Mini enquiries if you have any questions on anything MINI drop me a line i will do by best to help,
if you want us to quote you on a price i will ask one of our sales team to get in touch with you and see what we can do for you,
The offers will run as long as the parts are available with no set finish date so you should be okay for your new car next year
The JCW seats have the elements fitted,so if you have factory fitted heated seats in your car they connect to the new Recaro's,
The alcantara seats look superb these would be £1870.00 fitted inc vat and discount a pair,
the leather JCW seats would be £1740.00 inc fitting and vat
if you can live with the chance of 'shine' patches after a while for looks go for Alcantara, for overall wear leather would look better after a few years, i think if you look at a pair of the Alcantara seats fitted you would say 'Yes' it's up to you,
Hope this helps
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris, Im very interested in getting some of these seats for my R53 MCS.

Just so ive understood. You can supply R53 JCW leather seats but you cant connect the airbags? What is the reason that the side airbags dont work with the R53 seats in the R53 car if this is correct?

Am i right in thinking that the R56 and the R53 seats are of a different design?

Thank you.

Hi
I can supply the JCW R53 seats for you in leather either full black leather or two tone, black outer sections with colour centre sections,
The R53 JCW seats are made by Sparco, and arrive with adjustable thigh supports and heated seat elements built in just incase you have or want to fit the heated seat wiring kit at a later date,
The Sparco JCW R53 seats do not have built in side airbags as fitted to your standard factory seats, this is the reason we have to code out the side/seat airbag system on your car so the airbag light is not illuminated all the time,

The new R56 JCW seats are made by Recaro and have built in seat airbags,
they are both very nice seats with one section back rests including seat belt harness loops (not used) including with side/lumbar and thigh suports, and JCW logo
Hope this helps

Hi
Thanks for the enquiry,
it would be difficult to advise as you are not fitting into a MINI as the wiring could be different on other cars,
Sorry

I bought a pair of these JCW Recaro's to fit them in my '02 R50 Cooper. Since the wiring & mounting console is different in the 2nd gen. mini, I need to make some adjustments.

I think I can make this work by buying the seat-console of the 2nd generation mini & a new connector to make the wiring of my old mini fit onto the new connector of the Recaro's.

Not long ago I read of a company which sells those connectors, but I cant find them anymore. Does anyone know where to get these? Thanks a lot!

the seats are called recaro sportster sc and recaro do a universal airbag kit for them - they may be able to tell you how to fit then to a non-mini
