If you are thinking about getting a new ipod (touch, classic 80 & 160, nano3 or iphone)
Check that your ipod adaptor is compatible first. Apple seem to have made some changes:mad:
I am trying to compile a list, if you can help please chime in.
AT THIS TIME IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO PLUG THE IPHONE INTO ANY ADAPTORS that cannot charge at 5 volts

NANO3, TOUCH, CLASSIC
Kenwood:
Stereos with the KCAip200 adaptor - Require a firmware update available from the kenwood website
Screens with the KCAip300 adaptor - Will need firmware upgrades to the stereo & also ipod if they agree to do it
Alpine:

Dension
Issues, many of which are being worked on - see Dension Compatibility (http://www.dension.com/dension_apple_matrix.html)

Mini adaptor:

I'm running a new iPod Classic 80GB with an Intravee II/Alpine KCA-420i combo and it works wonderfully. No problems at all.

The Intravee II setup is by far the best iPod adapter solution I've seen to date for 1st gen MINIs with factory nav.

Why the hell have Apple done this? What's the benefit to them of breaking the backwards compatibility? It's not as if they make car adapters themselves.

I was tempted by a new iPod, but I won't bother, even if Dension fix the firmware for the IceLink Plus and provide a new cradle insert.

Hmm, not good to hear Mike, it would appear that my 160GB clasic does not charge and stays illuminated whilst driving.
Do i have a fix??
That would be 2 cars for me

Not sure about the switching off cause i always take the iPod out the car.
Regarding the album art, is that on the in car stereo screen?? i'm assuming it is cause the iPod should be blank when connected.

I did a 1 hour trip to go to the cinema and then home again, noticed that almost a 1/3rd used of the battery from fully charged.
Do you think the iPod is drawing power whilst the car is sitting still
