Hey all. Was just wondering if anyone knew of a good shop around Boston that does pulley installs. I allready have the pulley and belt and would do the install myself if I had the time . Thanks alot.
My question relates to "I allready have the pulley and belt" from the quote above. If I were to buy, say, a 17% Alta v1 or v2 pulley, which of the shops mentioned would be willing to install it? The reason I ask is that it seems likely that some businesses would not be willing to install what they don't sell.
Obviously, I'd rather just do it myself--I've read the how-tos, understand that it is a fairly simple operation, and am reasonably mechanically inclined. But I am a Murphy's Law whipping boy, and this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v329/hosmer/Mini/Picture425.jpg) would happen if I tried to do it myself. I don't have a day to chisel the OEM pulley off of the shaft or cut it off with a carbide blade (without damaging the shaft).
My car is still under warranty, so my preference would be to have it done at MINI of Peabody, just so it would be on their records that they did the install. Of course I would consider any other reputable shop that's close to SoNH, so Turner in Amesbury or HMS in Danvers would be my first choices. However, Turner for example sells their own 16% pulleys with their Stage kits, so would they install an Alta/KMT/Helix/other pulley?
Also, it seems that some places might be willing to install only reduction pulleys with percentages less than or equal to what they sell. So if MINIPeabody is willing to install 15% reduction pulleys, it seems that they might not be willing to install >=17% reduction pulleys.
I appreciate any insight anyone can provide.
