: MINI: A Girl's Car? BRG/Blk Cooper S Mar 11th, 2008, 10:02 PM as you said, If you have a look on NAM, quite a few people have a MINI and ferraris, lamborghinis, hummers etc etc That says it all.
I've also seen the odd S on MTV Cribs as well........never seen a VW or Audi or any of the other small cars "apparently" in the Mini's class. Tunster Mar 11th, 2008, 10:11 PM I've had all this "girl's car lark" at work since I ordered mine. Stuff them all! My boss drives a boring VW Golf and my work mate (or apprentice aka) drives up a battered VW Mk1 Polo and he's more into bikes.
I've seen as many blokes drive MINIs as girls. Same for all cars! However, there are ways to spec a MINI that can be "detered" more girly looking. However, the beauty is you can design it the way you want :D. Not be stuck with a single colour, same body kit as everyone else etc etc.
I find the "girly car" comments to come from people who are jealous and underestimate cars that don't perseave the "manly image".
Anyway, how can a AB Cooper S with the JCW Aero Kit, JCW Spoiler be girly????? :p Hyper Active Mar 11th, 2008, 10:12 PM Getting stick in the office that the above is true. Please give me some ammunition that proves otherwise!
Well that can only mean they have never driven a MINI then ;), cause they wouldn't say that if they had :D. Tunster Mar 11th, 2008, 10:15 PM Well that can only mean they have never driven a MINI then ;), cause they wouldn't say that if they had :D.
Also, counting both Italian Job films (if we're talking about both MINIs here), how many girls are driving a MINI? One. Blokes? The rest of them! :p captint Mar 11th, 2008, 10:20 PM Maybe they are jealous, or possibly chavs, do they offer a comparison, ie; your Mini is a girls car, as opposed to my bad boy Corsa!!! specky001 Mar 11th, 2008, 11:58 PM \i've alway rlly wanted some stripes on my Pure Silver MINI but my boss at work reckons they tacky, and because of his opinion ive never put any on, but this week ive decided i am, its my car, i want them, so why shud i be influenced on anybody else?? lotsa builders i work with say its a girly car, but that goes over my head tbh, i love it and for a few yrs, i wudnt swap it for anything!! mab01uk Mar 12th, 2008, 12:10 AM Remember this ad :D
YouTube - Mini Game Show (the banned "Rover Mini" advert) Mejy Poo Mar 12th, 2008, 02:42 AM I think MINIs are seen as girly just because they're so stylish, cute (don't shout at me!!;)), small, and as a girlie myself think of it as a big accessory :o :D
Like somebody else said put them in an S or a GP and they'll eat their words!! From other peoples perceptions I do think the MINI is highly underestimated - mostly due to lack of knowledge and plain ignorance!
As for colours Black Eye Purple was definitely a girlie one - bring it back!!!
:) Paul Mar 12th, 2008, 09:56 AM Maybe I do think the MINI is girly on a subconscious level - I've had Astro Black and Dark Silver so far! :D
Sounds like denial. :p ;) MACKIT Mar 12th, 2008, 11:08 AM I owned a 54 Cooper S in Pepper white previously. Had quite a bit of stick from people due to the colour. Most of them had larger saloons. I simply said that male Mini drivers don't feel inadequate in certain regions!! :D
I now own a Mini GP and would certainly say it's by far the most un-girl-like car i've ever owned.
How could a women own a GP? Suspension is so hard the couldn't do their make up....car is pretty damn quick that even with the windows up it would mess there hair up...and women are forbidden from driving cars with black wheels as it would be an excuse to curb them as you couldn't see the damage as well.
Sorry...that's very chauvinistic...only for the comedy effect!!!;)
Let's hope my girlfriend's not reading this!!! cooperSMark Mar 12th, 2008, 11:43 AM I don't think they're a girls car.. In fact my sister has a black Mini One with grey viper stripes and was only saying the other day that she likes the idea of it being un-girly. I got loads of stick for having the Z3 before my Mini - That was a hairdressers car, or so i kept being told :hmph: That was until they found out it had a 2.8L engine under the bonnet and went like stink! The mini is the same.. There aren't many other small cars with such a presence on the road and very few, if any, actually handle the way the mini does.
Up to now, i've had nothing but praise for choosing a Mini, especially with it being an S. I don't care anyway really.. Girls car or not, it makes me smile and handles like a go-kart on steroids  Paul Mar 12th, 2008, 11:47 AM I don't think they're a girls car.. In fact my sister has a black Mini One...
Doh!
;) batou Mar 12th, 2008, 11:49 AM I don't see what the problem is with people saying it's a girls car, it makes it funnier when you leave them in your wake ;) cooperSMark Mar 12th, 2008, 11:55 AM Doh!
;)
ha ha nice editing! :D Professor Peach Mar 12th, 2008, 12:45 PM Cooper S on order, and yes of course it's a girly car.
And since my current car (for the last 5 years) has been an Audi Cabrio (a gay car) it's probably an improvement for me. :D
However, since I have no problems with my own masculinity it really doesn't bother me. The guy with the Land Rover or Ferrari 360 might have some, erm, shortfall he's trying to compensate for, but I don't. ;)
If anyone asks you why you have a "girly" car, ask them exactly what inadequacy they have that makes them quite so bothered about such things, and tell them they might qualify for some kind of extension operation under the national health if it's affecting their lives that badly... :p Mejy Poo Mar 12th, 2008, 02:35 PM How could a women own a GP? Suspension is so hard the couldn't do their make up....car is pretty damn quick that even with the windows up it would mess there hair up...

Actually the MINI is a great car to do your make up in, all them interior lights make for precision application...
;) :D Paul Mar 12th, 2008, 02:38 PM Plus with the 2nd gen you can change the interior light to a shade of pink, which works wonders at making you look more pretty.
Apparently. AprilWhine Mar 12th, 2008, 04:55 PM My GP was a girly car. ;) thebadun Mar 12th, 2008, 05:01 PM I often used to give MINIs a bit of stick. That was until I went round the technical track (I think that's what it's called) at Rockingham circuit with an instructor in an R56 MCS on familiarisation laps, before driving a Ferrari 360. There were four men in the car, and it just stuck to the road like nothing I'd even been in before.
So last summer when looking for a new car I looked at all the common options, and then went to the MINI dealer and found my car. With the aero kit it looks purposeful, and with the sports suspension it's a go-kart.
Now a few of my friends gave me some stick after I got it, much as I would have. After a quick drive, most aren't so vocal. Not saying that I drive too quickly, but when it's on quiet roads nothing handles remotely as well as the MINI, that normally shuts them up. Mines 'only' an MC as well...
Edit: This is aimed at giving stick overall. One of the things about MINIs is their ability to be personalised, so if someone wants to make theirs more girly, then go for it. However, all of them aren't girly! Mister Mar 12th, 2008, 05:07 PM The MINI is *this* girl's car! :D
A cab is a completely different ball game lol ;):D
It's a cabrio S with JCW, thank you very much! ;) This means that I can apply my makeup while traveling at 70mph in 2nd gear :D PGN-1 Mar 12th, 2008, 05:38 PM 4/5 Minis Ive seen in my country have a woman behind the steering wheel. Opposite percentage on S.
Mini is a happy looking car, I think majority of its "girly" reputation comes from this characteristic. Joolsmini Mar 12th, 2008, 08:58 PM I have only just ordered my mini, so I have been spending alot more time looking at them in the last few days! wheels, spec, everything :D , and I have definately seen more guys driving them than gals so far! PmP Mar 13th, 2008, 11:48 AM I can hack the girls car jibes from mates but I find it soooo hard to tell a new Girl that I drive a Mini, especially when im 6ft 5 tall, first thing they say is hang on how do you fit?
Girls seem to like Guys who drive Mini's tho. Well in my experience. Mister Mar 13th, 2008, 05:10 PM Girls seem to like Guys who drive MINIs tho. Well in my experience.
Definitely! How YOU doin'?! :D arvin Mar 15th, 2008, 03:32 AM red, electric blue and pepper white spring to mind...obviously this is a subjective thing.
I don't think having a "girly" car is the end of the world, one of my favourite cars is the audi TT which is also a "girly" car imo. I used to have a red ONE and admit it was a bit of a girly colour but i think I still preferred it to the dark silver I have now which is imo more manly....
Anything crammy drives is manly NeuroBeaker Mar 15th, 2008, 03:40 AM Just tell them no it isn't, it's a gay car.
Gay car of the year 2005 no less.
:surprised5ff: No wonder all those guys kept buying me drinks... :errr7ph:

My R56 is a man's car. yellow bee Mar 15th, 2008, 11:24 AM My mini is a girls car its yellow i think it depends on what colour you get it in and what you do to it, dont hang any fluffys in it ha ha woofboxer Mar 15th, 2008, 11:47 AM Everyone knows that the size of a man's car is in inverse proportion to the size of his penis.
By the way I'm thinking about trading my 'S' in for a Smart car ;) NeuroBeaker Mar 15th, 2008, 09:04 PM Everyone knows that the size of a man's car is in inverse proportion to the size of his penis.
