Just bought an 02 MCS from Sytner BMW/MINI in High Wycombe and I cannot recommend them enough.

I went to view the car on 16/03/08 (Sunday Afternoon) after seeing it on the MINI Cherished website that morning. I turned up without booking a viewing or test drive. The moment i walked through the door i was greeted and offered a coffee and a comfy seat until a salesman became available. Within a few minutes Richard, the manager came and delt with my inquiry personally. He knew all the details of the car I was interested in and talked me through the spec and the history. He then brought the car round for me to have a good look around and offered a test drive. The route took in Motor-way, A-road and town centre, giving me a good chance to get a feel for the car. Following the test drive there was more free refreshments offered, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly at all times. Once we started to talk money, nothing was hidden and everything explained clearly with all my questions and concerns answered. I did however want to check my personal finances etc. so a deposit was agreed on and i went home with a grin from ear to ear.

The following day I phoned Russell who had been appointed my personal contact and said i was a little worried the deal, although brilliant for the spec of the car, had crept a little over my price limit, was there anything they could do to bring it under my price ceiling? He promised he'd phone back and within 5 minutes that promise was kept and the deal was done. I was even cheeky enough to ask if they could have the car ready for the following Saturday (22/03/08 - Easter Weekend), not a problem I was told.

Come Saturday I arrived early and with Dad, Brother and Girlfriend in tow, Drinks and seats offered all round. The car was washed, polished and valeted, MOT'd and Taxed as promised. David walked me through the payment and insurance explaining every last pence before i signed. Then Russell took me through the warranty, servicing and owners pack before taking me out to the car and showing me all the controls in detail. The keys were handed over, hands shaken all round and i drove away the happiest man on the planet.

I really can't recommend these guys highly enough, they are obviously all passionate about MINIs and they couldn't do enough to make sure i was happy, comfortable and completely satisfied throughout the whole process.

I will be using them for all the cars servicing, parts and if i decide to stay with MINIs in the future they will be the first people i speak to.

Thanks guys, for the ultimate MINI adventure

Tim

Shame that I can't agree with your comments. :frown:

We went in a couple of weeks ago asking about Coopers and the salesman could not have been less helpful if he tried. (Admittedly it was late on a Sunday, but they arranged the time of test drive not us.)

Can't remember his name, but maybe he thought we weren't serious buyers or, perhaps, because we wanted to test drvie 'a' Cooper as opposed to a specific Cooper that they had to sell.

The one he had was tatty and overpriced too - and it wouldn't start. He made no attempt to explain anything during the test drive and was quite aggresive on the phone the following day when he said they had a car that matched our spec at another Sytner, but we'd need a non-refundable deposit and could only reject the car if something serious was wrong. Now, I can understand the rationale for this - thye don't want people asking to see cars from other dealers in the group as they incur costs transporting them etc - but there'd be a way of talking about this without becoming aggressive. I'll also concede however, that I didn't take the call, and if you ever try that tactic on my missus, you get very, very short shrift.

It's a shame as we also have a BMW 530d M Sport Touring and get fantastic service from the BMW side. Even when we went to test drive, they let us go out in two 5-series in a row (one 525d SE and one 530d M Sport) despite the fact that they were both out of our price range and we had no intention of buying either.

I'd like to think it's not purely down to the price difference of the respective cars, and I hope it gets better with the Mini now we've bought one (from another dealer) as they're only about a five minute drive from our house - depending on the London Road traffic of course. ;)

I agree with you Tim. We bought our Cooper there back in 2002 (it was actually in Gerrards Cross then) and regularly used them for service since.

Good customer service and always manage to book me in when I wanted as oppose to Stratstones, my more local dealer, 4 week wait!!

Would not anyone else local look after the GP. Super service from reception - Laura Whiting is so helpful, polite and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Body shop manager , brilliant

Parts dept superb

Service techs - faultless (which means they have nothing to do mostly (only joking)

Cant be happier with a dealership.

Not dealt with the sales side, but for services 11/10:)

I have my Inspection II coming up for my MINI and I'm trying to find a good dealer who will do this without messing up my car (which is what happened when Scotthall Borehamwood did my brake fluid service!). Would High Wycombe Sytner be a good place to go? :)

I could not agree less!! Sytner High Wycombe, well dont get me started,id did go there once i was looking for a new clubman to replcae my old dooper and they were un helpful, the first thing the salesman(andrew)asked me was what was my monthyl budget and he got so wrapped up in the money side of things,i spent an hour in the showroom sat down giving him my life story trying to tell him what i wanted on a car.He never even showed me around a clubman and they did not have one in the showroom even though this was 1 month after the lunch.I have now bought a car and have since taken it to specialist car mini in luton and they were excellent very relaxed and friendly and i have since found elms at bedfore helpful too.

Second time we've dealt with them, I've still been underwhelmed.

Picked the car up and discovered a 'chip' which had become a fracture in the front screen.

As there's an existing chip, we've been keeping a close eye on the screen to ensure it doesn't get any worse. So we know that there wasn't another chip in the screen when we took it in.

Basically refused point blank to entertain the idea that they' *might* have done it. We have no proof either way (nor do they), but their attitude was actually quite rude.

Our Beemer also needed a service and it's got a five year service pack, so nothing to pay. Imagine my surprise then when I turned up to pick up the car and was presented with a large bill.

Also disappointed as the TV in our car stopped working last time they updated the software. No information to let me know that when I came to pick it up, I'd have to rebook the car in as they didn't have the parts to fix it.

AND...(I'm on a roll now)

We took the Beemer in because the run flat sensor kept going off. They (supposedly) checked all the tyres to ensure that we didn't actually have a puncture. The next weekend, we had a blowout on a rear tyre as the inside shoulder was worn through to the canvas.

Admittedly, I should have noticed myself, but how do you check the inner shoulder of a rear tyre without getting the car on a ramp? And why would you, when you're assured that everything is OK with the car from your dealer?

Disappointing after such a good start with the Beemer.

I have recently used High Wycombe for my first service on the Dooper. I was very pleased with them.

Whilst looking at the car they found some problems - two new front tyres were needed (my fault as the pressure was low and so the insides had worn) 260 quid for two which I didn't think was too bad for BMW.

They also spotted a fuel leak and the fact that the turbo pipe had come off (I told them to look at this though as I had noticed power had gone a few days before). They did a temporary fix of the turbo but couldn't fix the fuel leak without a part. Sent me home in a new BMW 123d for the night - nice!!!

Mini was ready to picked up the next day and the new turbo pipe was fitted whilst I waited yesterday. What a nice place to wait too - free internet, TV, coffee, newspapers, biscuits AND two floors worth of MINIs and BMWs to look at.

They also paid attention when I asked them not to clean the car!! Will be going there again for service.
