I'm thinking of getting a convertible pretty soon.
I like quick little cars and was wondering if I should add the JCW option to it.
I'm pretty tight on budget but gonna probably lease (or finance) it anyways, so adding a couple thousand will only bring up the monthly payment by a bit..
Is the cooper S quick enough? or should I go ahead and get the JCW option?
Also, I think I read somewhere saying that the 1 gen convertible will seize production sometime this year.
I really like 1 gen and will probably not get a mini if I miss this chance (of getting 1 gen).
Does any one know when would be the last day to order a mini cooper S conv (sidewalk) in BC Canada?
Thanks.

I have had my cooper S convertible for a month now and believe me it is quick! It is nippy, responsive, throaty etc and handles beautifully. I had a R56 cooper before that and the difference is really noticeable. Can't comment on the JCW never having driven one but I am more than pleased with my choice.
I understand the production of the current convertible ceases this July in UK.
Best of luck

if you like the idea of a 0-60 time of 6.6 sec and 210bhp then yes.
or you could just go for a basic MCS and fit the important parts (ie reduced supercharger pulley)
down side with that it may effect your warranty.

Depends on your driving style really. If you're planning on making use of it's abilities properly then I would definitely recommend it :D. It will feel a lot 'freer' once you get above 4000 revs and that's where the difference between the S and JCW will become more apparent.

Yes, more power is always nice, but I do about 20,000 miles a year in my hard top 1st gen MCS with "only" 170 bhp and don't find the power lacking in any way. I've made lots of improvements, especially to body stiffening (an even bigger advantage in the soft top!) but I won't be upping the power output. If you are on a "pretty tight" budget, then you'll be fine without it!
You convertible buyers are really fortunate to still have the option of buying the original supercharged car. Get an order in for one before it's too late!!! ;) Sorry, I don't know when it will be too late in Canada.
TIgger.
