: Which sidewalk should I buy? cymrugirl555 Apr 29th, 2008, 06:02 PM Hello everybody, I need some advice!!
I want to buy a new side sidewalk convertible. As I am female, in my thirties I want to buy the right colour, interior etc. Also, I had set my heart on a cooper s but found the drive on the cooper a bit nicer, however, the cooper s just looks the best by far, I love the hole on the front. Yes, vain I know thank you!!
What shall I get?? Oh, by the way, I currently drive a red beetle!! supa-dupa-cooper Apr 29th, 2008, 06:06 PM Hello and welcome to MINI2 :D
The Sidewalk is a lovely car!!
It only comes in these colours though : Astro Black, British Racing Green, Sparkling Silver, White Silver and Pepper White.
and it only has one interior - which I believe is now the black leather (though on the config thing you can spec Brown still?!)
If you want a different colour or different interior trims, then i'd spec up a 'normal' MINI Convertible ;) :)
Good luck choosing :D mister.t Apr 29th, 2008, 06:08 PM Welcome to MINI2 cymrugirl555 :D:D
It entirely depends on what your budget is. The Cooper S will be more to insure, fuel and tax - But, its a lot quicker, sounds incredible, and looks great
I would personally pull out all of the stops and go for a Cooper S while you can afford it - With prices rocketing as they are at the moment, can't see it being too long until it gets very expensive!!
Best of luck with whatever you choose :D:cool: sef Apr 29th, 2008, 06:20 PM Hello...

Defo PW
DOn't know what you would do about the Interior thing as the all black would make the car a little dark inside!
I love the Malt brown, but the black would have made me rethink the Sidewalk!
And who can get past those wheels! 118 Apr 29th, 2008, 10:52 PM welcome to MINI2 :D
I agree with the PW too - still can't make my mind up about the brown interior tho, think I would go for the black, but it's your car ;) just make sure you spec xenons too! :D ASTON Apr 30th, 2008, 02:57 AM i agree. pepper white looks stunning:D Tigger, Eeyore & Roo Apr 30th, 2008, 06:08 AM I like the brown interior, but I don't think I could live with it long term. Black leather is classic, more practical and doesn't date.
I'm interested that you had your heart set on the S, but preferred the drive of the Cooper; what was it that you preferred about the Cooper?
Tigger.
PS: Bear in mind that this is the last year for this model of cabrio; within the year there will be a new cabrio which will be very similar, but based on the 2006 hard top MINI (rather than the 2001 hard top MINI). You might want to wait for the new version, or you might prefer the original one. Your choice.... I love MINI, Laura Apr 30th, 2008, 11:32 AM Do you want brand new or used? bumble77 Apr 30th, 2008, 05:18 PM Hi cymrugirl
This is my first post on mini2 and I will soon have my new sidewalk!
I ordered a sidewalk about 4 weeks ago. I couldnt afford to stretch to the Cooper S so I just went for the Cooper, but i'm happy with that although I do love the hole on the front too :-)
I was all set to get pepper white or sparkling silver and couldnt decide between the two. The dealer then told me about white silver which I hadn't heard of and basically talked me into that, although I still havn't seen it in real life. Some of the pics on the internet look more white and some of them look more silver!!
Anyway, I pick it up on Saturday now and I can't wait to see what its like. If you want I can post pictures here as there arent that many I could find on the internet!
Also you can only get black interior now which i think is nicer although you still have the brown on the steering wheel and the gear stick which i do think is a bit strange.
Good luck with your decision, whatever you choose im sure you will be very pleased with it.
Kind regards
Scot Tigger, Eeyore & Roo Apr 30th, 2008, 06:03 PM I've seen the new "white silver" and it looks just like a bright "metallic white", nothing like Pepper White. It looked great in the showroom lights. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Thats good to know! I've been worrying that it might be too silver because I do like the PW but a lot of people have that now around where I live..... Tell me it looks nothing like the silver?????? :-) I love MINI, Laura Apr 30th, 2008, 09:08 PM http://www.mini2.com/forum/mini-convertible/153357-white-silver-metallic.html

Hi bumble Great choice on an amazing car. See these threads for lovely pics of white silver. I hope they are useful? I was on a mission one day to find pics of it. I must say its lovely and very very rare! Congrats! Tigger, Eeyore & Roo Apr 30th, 2008, 09:59 PM Thats good to know! It's nothing like silver :)
If I'd had to describe the colour from scratch, I wouldn't have used the word "silver" at all. It's definitely a sparkly metallic, but it's MUCH more white than silver. It could have been called "Sparkling White", which would have been much more accurate, but it would have sounded like a washing powder commercial! :D rellik666 Apr 30th, 2008, 10:54 PM Talking of white silver, I have literally just seen my first one in the flesh!
I have to say, I was dissappointed when I ordered mine as W/S came out about a month later....but TBH having just seen it I am glad I got PW anyhow.
it is not that I don't like it, but it is not bold enough for me............yeah I know I have a white car, how bold is that!
But I agree that there is a lot of PW cars about now and W/S is a special colour! bumble77 May 1st, 2008, 12:07 AM Thanks you guys youve all made my night! Its nice to actually hear from people who have actually seen it in the flesh. I'm even more excited for saturday now!!! x A washing commercial sounds great to me lol liz131 May 1st, 2008, 08:55 AM When searching for my convertible I drove both the cooper and the cooper s and plumped for the s. As I recall, the cooper had a 5 speed box whereas the s had a 6. The s drives just superbly and sounds great! I'm really pleased with my choice and I had the 56 cooper prior to getting a slightly older convertible s.
I have a PW with full black leather and the hood is black also. The combination is stunning in my (biased) opinion! The contrast between pale paintwork and dark inside and hood is so striking. I understand what has been said about the all black interior being dark but you get used to that and I actually like it. I feel sort of cocooned inside the dark interior! When my kids sit in the back they too like it as they say it is "cosy".
I too have seen the white silver in the flesh and it is remarkable colour that will be admired wherever you go. It is very hard to describe but I would say it is not really silver but more of a pale white/pearly metallic colour. I have seen it with the brown interior and it is fabulous but can imagine it would look equally as good with the black. The sidewalk hood is black so I would think the black inside would be great.
Hope to see your pics soon! Enjoy! Tigger, Eeyore & Roo May 4th, 2008, 06:34 AM Thanks you guys youve all made my night! Its nice to actually hear from people who have actually seen it in the flesh. I'm even more excited for saturday now!!! x A washing commercial sounds great to me lol
Do spill the beans! You must have the new cabrio by now.....

Tigger.
Hey, I got the car on Saturday and I am so in love with it. As we drove up to the dealer I saw it parked and instantly knew I loved the white silver. As you know I was a bit worried about it.
Now that I have seen it in the flesh I know why it was so hard for you guys to describle. In some lights it is definitely more silver and some more white. My dad also described it as a putty colour in darker light. Its very unusual and I love it. Im also really pleased with the black interior it looks really smart and it doesnt feel dark when your inside it.
Today is a beautiful hot sunny day, just great for a mini sidewalk
Someone has borrowed my digital camera at the mo but as soon as i have it i will post some pics if you want? NickyJ May 6th, 2008, 05:29 PM Oh yes Bumble take some pics, I've only since White Silver once before :) Matt_and_Cat May 10th, 2008, 06:19 AM Enjoy the new car!
We have a sidewalk - so called sparkling silver, which isn't silver at all (perhaps a mini colour theme!?), but gold, I think. We have the brown seats, which I do like. We love it, and I do prefer the interior speedo etc on the current convertible, although the economy on the newer Cooper S is a lot better, but I wouldn't wait for the new model!
Always make me smile when I drive it. Had to go to Kettering earlier in the week - which is about 150 miles each way on the M1, and it was very sunny, so was topless all the way! Thoroughly recommended. You really do catch the sun... one to watch if we have any more sunny days.
Anyway, enjoy! Joolsmini May 12th, 2008, 08:51 PM Hi and big welcome to you, I used to have a bug too, and think I recognise your user name from evvo or club concept ;)
I am the same age as you and was going to buy a sidewalk 2 months ago (the tan interior stole my heart lol!), but then I saw a cooper S with black interior and knew it was for me.
I adore the sidewalk and love the wheels, so very best of luck in choosing | |
