Just got back 10 mins ago - peeled off from the tour near the end, for the 3.5 hour drive back to Loughborough (near Nottingham) - now completely shattered!

Had a fantastic weekend! Arrived on Friday evening at about 11pm, and had to pitch the tent by headlights! The treasure hunt on Saturday was great - hopefully Mikey and the judges appreciated our collected items (Japanese rice crackers, trolley token etc) :) Unfortunately didn't make the disco, as we put our heads down for a kip at 8pm, and didn't wake up again until 1am, only to fall back to sleep again - oops! How was it?

The drive today was fantastic, and can't wait to see the pics! Loved the climb up the steep hill (forgot the name), and the twisty up and down roads just before stopping off at the pub - hello to the Northern Minis we joined on the roads, and stopped off with for dinner! We don't think Monty (our classic Mini), would have made it to the top of the hills, but planning to get him in tip top shape for next year anyway!

It was great meeting people, and hopefully we'll know what to expect next year and will be more prepared to mingle with the crowds.

Thanks again to Mikey and the other organisers! Will definitely be coming again next year! And hello to all those we spoke to and followed on the tour!

PS - When were the results of the quiz etc announced? We've both got an early start for work tomorrow, hence having to leave the end of the tour to go home, rather than joining everyone back at the camp.

PPS - Next year, I'll have to get my car modded to stand out from the crowd - felt a bit left out being plain and simple (except for the MINI sun blinds...woop!).

Just got back to Durham, knackered would be an understatement.

Great Run, I was expecting to spend a lot of time following muppets in Micras, however you seem to pick out roads which were fairly quiet.

I had a great day met some new faces and blew the cobwebs out of the engine. Overall a resounding success shame I could only make the run.

Well what can i say!

This was my very first Mini meet up/run and it was simply superb! Drove up on the Saturday afternoon as we weren't camping - got talking to people straight away - what a friendly bunch! Just walking round the campsite admiring the minis was a pleasure in itself..

Didn't make the disco on the Saturday night unfortunately so we were all ready for the drive on Sunday. Must admit was kinda nervous about not being able to keep up with the other minis and yes we got lost a few times - but soon caught up with others!! An excellent drive, really impressed with the splashes although the woman feeding the ducks was a massive distraction :D

By the time we had food my other half (an avid Focus driver) was dying to get behind the wheel! The hills we went up and down were brilliant. It really didn't feel like we'd been driving so long when we got back to the campsite at 4pm.

Thanks to the organisers of it all - maybe next year i will brave the camping and be there for the whole weekend plus my JCW aero kit will be on ;)

Also big hello to the LMR faithful and others we met... :)

Mikey,

It was brilliant mate (will PM/email you the feedback form). Specially liked being there for the Friday rather than just getting there Saturday afternoon (like we did the last 2 times) and missing the Ferry raid and Trasure hunt).

Loved the Saturday mainly because I got to drive my car a bit scary as its sounds at mo.

Sunday was good (I don't know how the hell you find those roads  ), but its not the same as a passenger (I only made one mistake and only unvolved reversing 5 feet ;) ).

Hopefully next year my car will be up for the runs (going to Lohen next Saturday) and if I've saved the cash up coilovers will mean I can avoid the scraping by raising the ride height :D

Nothing is like the Lakes, looking forward to Lakeland Tour 2009 :D

LMR Guys...

Had intended to come and talk to a few of the LMR lot but got a bit caught up I'm sorry. R99 you were behind me and Graham for a while had intended to say Hi and comment as those stickers looked mint! Then he got very annoyed at that Audi driver

JWT - saw you on the motorway and gave you a wave, liking the side stripes, every MINI should have em :D

Fantastic run as ever Mikey! Brilliantly organised and such great roads and people :D  It always seems slightly surreal being back at home and not spending days in a field with mucho BBQ food!

I've got a few piccies, but eyes are too tired to make out if they're in focus or not :o They should be up tomorrow :)

Thanks again to all involved and I hope you're having a well earned pint as we speak :D

First Lakes Tour for us - one word - Awesome!! :D

Big thanks to Mikey and the gang for a fantastic weekend - made the 21 on the ferry and had a great run run back from Keswick in the afternoon (the wife took one look at the shops in Keswick and that was the end of the Treasure Hunt for us, sorry!). But the tour today was fantastic - how on earth did you manage to find those roads? Absolutely breathtaking scenery.

Hi to all those that we got talking to over the two days - great bunch of people. Just sorry we had to leave before the prizes, etc - it was long drive back to Nottingham after all that went before.

Can't wait for the Lakes Tour 2009 though!

The Weekend has been fantastic, booze, sun, and long drives. The Routes were awesome, and truley show the true potential of how a mini should handle. Iv had my car about 4months now, and never knew till this weekend mini's could do what they do.

The Routes were awesome especially hardknot pass.

Thanks to everyone there for a great weekend, will defo be there next year, possibly in sumet a little faster and sumet that stands out.

Will be posting some pix up tomorrow. 10hrs sleep in 3days aint to healthy haha

Well, after a quick blast down the M6 I got back just after 8.

First of all I would just like to say thanks to all the organisers for such a great weekend. It was my first Lakes Tour and I can safely say I will be back next year. :D

It was really great to meet some new people, and put names to faces. Like I say it was my first time on this run and everyone was very welcoming. :) Judging by a few comments people made to me the lowly ONE D surprised a few people! :p For those who didnt know, I was the one with the large sticker on the rear window,

My mate took most of the pics below (including a random dog who joined us for a BBQ), although I snapped a couple of them towards the end. If anyone sees their car and would like a full size version fire a PM off and I will do my best to get a copy sent to you. :)

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread as I wasn't on this run. Anyway just commenting on your great pics James, looked like a fantastic weekend.

P.S where did you get your rubber ducky aerial topper?

Hi Ryan. :)

I'm sure no apology is necessary, its hardly a hi-jack! The rubber duck came from a member on here called SteveMac, he gave me it on the event.

I'm not sure where he got it from to be honest, but I'm sure if you PM'd him he'd set you right. :)

Thanks Damo, I thought I would try and do something different for the run. They turned out ok in the end, and I was pleased with them. :)

That Audi driver was a complete tool, he was still chuntering to himself when we passed him. Old people.

Pics look fab, and can't wait to see more - will post mine when I'm on lunch.

Unfortunately we didn't make it onto the ferry - we were left behind with a bloke in a black MCS (sorry, don't know your name, but LOVE your car!). We would have made it, but were bumped out of the queue at the last minute

One suggestion for next year - how about a big BBQ on the Saturday afternoon / evening? Would be good to have a few beers and burgers whilst chatting etc.

goonerij, didn't realise you were from Nottingham - would have mentioned convoying back / forth.

What a weekend.... to say i`m wrecked is an understatement but well worth it..... I would like to say a big thanks to Mikey and his team for all the effort he put in and finding again some of the best driving roads around.

Will load the pictures on as soon as and my other halfs (Wiggy) Dad got nearly all the cars going through the second water splash at Rutters Fall....

Lastly cheers to Craig in the White cooper for helping us out when Chris got a full flat on the top of the Pass..
