Hi, Hope someone can offer advice. I'm seriously considering buying a 2004 Mini cooper - automatic transmission - I live in a small town in the countryside so my useage will be a mixture of urban and country - the figures state about 37.5mpg - does this sound about right? It's a petrol.

That sounds a little optimistic...I have a 2003 Cooper CVT, which is pre-facelift so should be the same as your car, and I get about 29-32, if driven carefully. If you drive in SD or Steptronic, expect the mileage to go sharply down, aggressive driving you're looking at closer to 20mpg.

Hope it helps, realise this is a late reply.

very late to reply here, but might be of use to someone.

I do 110miles a day and I get 38mpg with my CVT on the motorway, don't drive over 60mph and don't go over 2500 rpm otherwise with you will see 30-32mpg, just stick the cruise control on.
