: Best bang-for-buck JCW accessory? Rocco9999 Nov 25th, 2008, 02:51 PM Has anyone got any pics of these bits? i'm not sure what the JCW wheel looks like, I need convincing!
I can't picture the rear diffuser either but it sounds nice :)
I am toying with a new rear spoiler but not the JCW "Lego" one, I was thinking of this stylish number:
http://motoringfile.com/pictures/2007_giftguide/spoiler.jpg
Looks lush on the car as my local demo has one....
maybe I should tell the dealer to spend my VAT on a new spoiler (£130 + painting and fitting), a carbon gear knob, steering wheel and rear diffuser????? :) Rocco9999 Nov 25th, 2008, 02:53 PM Is this the steering wheel?
Just carbon inserts isnt it???
http://www.outmotoring.com/images/P/JCW_steering_wheel_md.jpg picard Nov 25th, 2008, 02:56 PM theres two wheels leather or alcantara both are thicker than std wheel
i much prefer the alcantara one
i considered that spoiler but thought id go the whole hog and get the touring car look
the carbon inserts are separete items and i think £60 each
if you dont get those you swap your silver ones or multi functions buttons if you have a MFSW Rocco9999 Nov 25th, 2008, 02:59 PM ..mmm nice.
Thicker smaller wheels do feel nice, especially with a stiff steering (which i think the JCW has) or at least when in sport mode. Makes the car feel like a proper old school sports car.... dan_cooper_s Nov 25th, 2008, 03:16 PM Getting the wheel does seem like a good idea, after all it is pretty much the only part you use all of the time.

I hate to say this but it may same some people some money. Wallston MINI are seem to be doing some great prices on JCW bits. Would be intresting to see if the boys up north can match the prices.
I dont want so start a price war but it would save me a trip to Northampton. And yes even with a hotel and petrol I would still be saving money. Tara&Paul Nov 25th, 2008, 07:22 PM If you really want to make a difference to your car, then get the JCW suspension and get rid off the runflats. Doing this will really unleash the full potential of your new factory JCW, I can't understand why the car did not have the suspension fitted as standard, as on the R53 GP car? mikeythemini Nov 25th, 2008, 09:15 PM Will mikey at new mini stuff fit a JCW S/Wheel?

what should total cost be
Sounds about right with parts...a grand for the bits and 4 hours labour at £100/hr.
dont forget to haggle as I bet there not busy in the workshop, oh and VAT is 15% not 17.5 :) kevkbuk Nov 26th, 2008, 09:36 AM what should total cost be
Supply and fit should be nearer £1000, but labour rates vary by dealer. From memory the parts alone are around £600ish. The prices I'm quoting are a few months old now, but if anything the price should have come down with the credit crunch and all... Its sure does me old mate!! Roma Nov 26th, 2008, 01:42 PM Okay, so to sum up the general consensus so far in this thread. It appears that I will have to tadd the following John Cooper Works bits to my John Cooper Works factory-built MINI to make it a proper John Cooper Works MINI (yes, I am being ironic!):
1. JCW Sports Steering Wheel (leather or alcantara)
2. JCW strut brace
3. JCW suspension kit (is the strut brace part of this???)
4. Ditch the runflats and get standard tyres

I'm not sure i'd call it a consensus, some people are saying that. i'm not sure I want to pay £250 plus fitting for a new steering wheel and i'm perfectly happy with runflats on my JCW (though I agree they are a compromise). I would agree though that the suspension upgrade is worth it, though its about £1000+ fitted.
Personally to make the car all it should be it needs the Recaro seats as the standard ones, even in leather are so pants. They look like something from a £5000 KA!
And since the body kit and badges are not really unique to the JCW it needs something like a big spoiler and carbon diffuser to set it apart.
Add to that the suspension and lets say a strut brace and your talking mega bucks. Oh and I really wanted the silver/black R113 wheels.
Call it £30k to make it all the car it could be  :aargh: Roma Nov 26th, 2008, 03:26 PM ^ I'm just totting up the recommended accessories in this thread. I'll add your to the list:
1. JCW Sports Steering Wheel (leather or alcantara)
2. JCW strut brace
3. JCW suspension kit (is the strut brace part of this???)
4. Ditch the runflats and get standard tyres
5. JCW Sports Seats
6. JCW Carbon Rear Spoiler
7. JCW Carbon Diffuser
8. Silver/black R113 wheels
Hmm...I tought I HAD just purchased a JCW... ;)
Still, what a car it would be with all of the above! The nice thing about the MINI is how much you can customise it...at a price.
