Hi all,
Following a 10 day test drive of the in laws Mini Cooper Convertible in Cornwall this year, my good lady was so impressed Idid the big thing and bought her a Mini Cooper S Convertible for Christmas!!!!! It took a while to find one in budget and with the right spec and the good folk at Park Lane gave some great banter and haggling but finally an 07 reg with 7.5k on the clock, chilli pack too, Hot Orange Blue Roofed Mini magically appeared on the drive for Christmas morning with a big bow on it. And she was surprised, the shenaningans to get it there in secret were amazing, I have good friends!!!!
Now she really loves it already...... but..... it has the Blue Roof, and well as my wife reminded me, all my clothes and colour coordinating are done by her as are the colours of the paint on the walls of the house etc.... Blimey I thought, she is right, and what this means is that actually she wants a black roof. DOH!!!!:D
So where to get a black roof, and what advice can you give, as I see some horror stories on roof wear.....??
I am sure a main dealer would be pleased to ease my wallet open, and that would I think ensure the warranty is fine, one post here suggests replacing is a doddle, and as luck would have it I have found 3 roofs, two from 07 cars and the other older. I am discounting the older one, but now have a choice.
I will get a quote from a dealer, but can only think it will be horrendous, though they probably have a lot of practice........
I would just be pleased to hear thoughts, is it really simple to change, we could I guess use the guy who over the years has done some accident damage for us and is very, very good, I suspect that would not be a problem with warranty, or of course I could do it myself but am not keen, too much involved.
Anyhow, hope to read a lot of these threads, the car clearly has a cult following and I am delighted my wife was so pleased, all I have to do now is sort this out and she will be singing my praises for a few days!!!
Cheers, and thanks for reading,
Gaz
