: Delays in delivering your MINI?

Hi,
Starting 2009 without my new MINI Cooper Clubman, with the Sport package which was ordered back on October 6 through Park Lane BMW/MINI in Mildenhall and supposed to be produced the first week in Dec. Even as the the factory closed two weeks early for the holidays, it appears that the Sport Package entered production early and other buyers had their production dates advanced while mine is nowhere to be found; all I get is "We hope to have it sometime in January." From reading the US MINI forum, it appears that MINIs produced for export had priority. Just wondering what the experience has been for any other UK MINI buyers who were expecting delivery in December? Thanks.
Cheers.

I ordered my JCW on 10th November, it was built on 1st December (i think), delivered to the garage on 9th and I collected it on the 20th.....so that was quite quick, and it was built during the scheduled week.

Welcome to MINI2 by the way :)

Tracie and supa-dupa-cooper,
Many thanks and congratulations on your new MINIs; it's beginning to look like maybe my dealer has just dropped the ball. :(

x2 is a clubman thing??

Don't think so as I've only had my clubbie for a month and I never heard about one when we ordered our MCS hatch.

Im guessing the car has been ordered over here but for export to the US, therefore in US spec?! :puzzled:

The 'sport package' which is a US option adds (on a Cooper Clubman) :

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
Sports Seats
Fog Lights
Black or Silver Bonnet Stripes
16" 5-Star Blaster Alloys or 16" Bridge Spoke Alloys

Correct on all counts; I am an American who has totally enjoyed my time here in the UK;) and am headed back to the US reluctantly so it was time to buy my Clubman as a token of my time here:biggrin:. Was willing to wait for the Sport Package/DTC which wasn't supposed to enter production until the first week in December, although it appears to maybe have started early when the Oxford factory holiday closure was moved up to 7 December. Had hoped to enjoy it here for a while but as a US spec vehicle in the UK distribution system, it is a "ghost" and Park Lane doesn't seem to understand customer service;. It appears much easier to say "we'll get back with you after the holidays" than make any effort to get it delivered before Christmas that might interfere with staff holidays or time off. (apologies for venting).

Sorry to hear that your arrival on MINI2.com is due to a delay in getting your new car! Hope it all works out for you - and you'll be posting your specs and pictures up here real soon!

Welcome to MINI2.com, and hopefully maybe you'll be brigning your new car to Silverstone in May ;)

Thanks; pictures when (if?) MINI-Fred shows up.:puzzled:
While I would love to be at Silverstone, barring a major change of circumstances, I will be back in the US by then; will look for everyones pictures and enjoy vicariously from afar:(

Oh well, at least there are plenty of MINI fans in the US too these days!

At least you know the wait will be worth it :D

Greetings from Jolly Olde England, where it sometime takes 5 weeks to travel 90 odd miles from the factory at Oxford to the dealer in Suffolk. Was able to pick up MINI-Fred yesterday and am quite happy to have it in my driveway, mileage to follow soon! :DWill be posting a couple pictures of the cargo net set-up as soon as it warms up just a bit.

Yay! Glad you got him finally!! :D

I was about to say 'whats with the orange reflectors and odd front numberplate' and then I remembered its not UK spec :p

How long will it take to ship it over to the US when you have to go back?? :) And does it stay a UK registered car?! :puzzled:

Many congratulations! looks fabulous - worth the wait?

Funnilly enough, you have chosen the colour combo that we are now desperately trying to get for our Clubman, but are running out of time as they will discontinue Lightning Blue very soon (if not already )

And the order is with......Park Lane ;)

Enjoy......:D
