Does it need to be changed? How did you come to this conclusion?

I think DaFlake ment how did you get to the conclusion that the tensioner bearing needs replacing. Ive never heard of this before.

The belt should be changed about every 10 000 miles.

The belt on a standard unmodified car is changed on the inspection II which is about 50000 miles

reduced pulley should be changed more frequently

you can buy the belts from most of the site sponsors or from BMW

New tensioner is about 150 USD. There is no need to replace the tensioner unless it needs it. That was what I was trying to say above. If you have a rattle coming from it then yes, but not for the sake of doing it just because. No need to toss money away. If you want to, I have a Paypal account and you can toss it my way. ;)

what you will need is a tool to relieve the tension on the belt so you can remove and replace the old belt. I was foolish enought not to buy one when I went to a smaller pulley and bent a couple of the meatiest screwdrivers I've ever seen in the proccess. When I was changining my oil pan, I descided to swap the belt too, and fortunately I wised up and got a friend to hold the allen key as I used my new tool to hold the tensioner back
