: improving handling mlj Feb 18th, 2009, 01:47 PM Hi,
I haven’t done anything to improve my handling in my 2001 cooper yet but now want to. I was going to fit either Eibach or KW lowering springs but have now found this on eBay,
MINI ONE COOPER (R50) SUSPENSION KIT - PI PISK2600 on eBay, also Suspension Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-Mar-09 16:59:09 GMT) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-ONE-COOPER-R50-SUSPENSION-KIT-PI-PISK2600_W0QQitemZ250370426044QQihZ015QQcategoryZ4 0192QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 )
What do you all think of it?
Will it improve handling more than just springs and if so by how much?
Would KW variant 1's be a lot better?
Thanks in for your help in advanced
Michael Buz999 Feb 18th, 2009, 02:14 PM The advert you have linked to is for cars newer than march 2002 so may not fit your 2001 Cooper. As far as i know the early cars had suspension probs so were changed soon into production. mlj Feb 18th, 2009, 02:27 PM Woops, thankyou, i never saw that. The shop seems to stock a lot of stuff so they might be able to get hold of the jit for the early ones. once again thankyou. ..Blackadder.. Speaking of which, has anyone tried these? I've had PI springs on a previous car and they were really good.

Thankyou for pointing these out to me, after a little research i think i will have to go for coilovers as the standard shocks cannot cope with lowering springs when they get old, Mine have done 85000 miles mlj Feb 20th, 2009, 04:13 PM I've found them for £265 + £12.50 delivered in case anyone is interested. Carsima - If you are looking for an PI Suspension Kit Mini One and Cooper 03/2002-2007 Lowers 35mm (PISK2600) click here PI (http://www.carisma-styling-ltd.potn.com/p1320114.htm)
Thankyou for pointing these out, they look good. The ones you linked to are for latter cars but i think they will do ones to fit earlier cars. (allthough i still have not found them on there website)
I cant find out if the shocks are uprated with harder damping/faster rebound or not though. Does anyone know?
Cheers Michael mlj Feb 20th, 2009, 04:19 PM Ok, after more goggling I have found out that coilovers are different to suspension kits.
Am I right in thinking that the only difference is that coilovers are adjustable?
Cheers Michael Mike Edwards Feb 20th, 2009, 04:47 PM Given the mileage, I suspect new front wishbone bushes will give the biggest improvement. m_cooke999 Feb 20th, 2009, 11:37 PM Ive got eibach lowering springs on my mini one and the difference to the handling and body roll is amazing john knm Feb 26th, 2009, 04:20 PM hi ive got an 02 cooper late march.i bought pi springs second hand the back fit but front didnt . the front changed in march 02 so u get an early type and later type .i had 2 get a brand new set the one cooper and coopers from 02 2 06 ave the same springs does any1 want a set of cheap springs pi 35 2 40mm tom2005 Mar 5th, 2009, 12:05 PM I fitted a GTT upper strut brace last night... the drive to work was significantly better! The car feels much more stable and flat around corners. I feel more confident chucking it into corners. Defintely recommended for improving the mini's handling. | |
