I Have a local team of mechanics that I use to service all of my cars.

They are old sckool mechanics and deal with old style rally cars and classic cars but they are the only people i trust to do a thourough check and service of my car, I have used then since I have been driving.

The car is booked in for a service and brake fluid change on monday but obviously being old school mechanics they do not have or need service reset tools etc. I have found the info on the service remider reset but I cant find the brake fluid/clock symbol reset function, Can someone tell me how to do it.

Also the car has 78000 miles and it just says inspection on the speedo. will this be an inpsection1 or 2?

I know it will say what inspection was last done in the service history and the next service will be different but im in work at the moment and the book is in the house. i need to get all the parts today hence needing to know what type service it is.

it mentions in the inspection lisitngs, to change the poly v belt, is this the timing belt or fan belt?

The only belt is for alternator. air con, etc no cam / timing belt as chain driven like most BMWs.

Think its kind of inspection 1...... if you dont know the histroy then get it a full inspection service anyway :)

i was thinking to give it a full inspection to save bother.

i thought the engine might have been chain driven, but ive only ever had E30 325i sports and they were chain driven, i thought some of the early lower litre bmw engines were belt driven and the mini could have had a timing belt but with techniology advancing i had a hunch it may have been a chain.
