Can anybody recomend a used car warranty for a Cooper convertible ? Mine ran out 6 months ago forgot to extend it now roof has broken luckily have a good will gesture from Mini UK who will pay for the parts plus go 50/50 on labour but now want to get a warranty to cover the roof breaking down again, if I can't then I will never have the roof down as will be too scared in case it breaks again and this time will have to fork out 2.5K for a new one

Bad luck, and commiserations Dennis! I expect there will be more similar tales emerging, as the convertible has now been around for close to 5 years.
I assume MINI themselves would quote you? If so, it might be intereesting to discover how much more the quote would be for a convertible vs an identical spec hard-top....
Hope it works out for you

Mini send out a quote for extending the warranty just before it expires.
However if you let cover lapse then you cannot take out cover, I'd just put it down to a lesson learned for next time!

Hi
Just wondered how your roof came to break? Did the electrics stop working?

I'm now on our second Cabrio S. Our first an 05' had 2 tops replaced under 2 years, thank Herra it was under warranty. Now we own an 08' had the top replaced due to a chemical burn from our local BP gas station. The top isn't even a year old and already it's showing major signs of wear. Threadbare in a couple of spots. The top was replaced with an OEM product.
But Alass, something in the design is flawed. Saw the Bulletin on the Dealers computer, and they are well aware (BMW) that we have problems. But I doubt that any recall will ensue. 1 out of every 4 cars is a Cabrio. I live in Sunny California. The top goes up and down more often than I can count. I'm also now having stitching disappear, causing metal support rods to slide out of their casings. The top will be a year old at the end of August.
Anybody else experiencing similar problems? Got to go out and research the 3rd party extended warranty. $1,900. And they put used parts in when applicable. Sold to me by my BMW dealer, it's called Performance First, anyone had dealings with them? Thanks Pops
