Hi guys,

spotted some nice front and back seats from a cooper S which are in excellent condition.

just wondering if they would fit my MINI ONE 52 plate, the seats are from a COOPERS S 2005,

and also does it take much for them to be removed / fitted ?

any responses appriciated !

First gen seats will fit.

From what im aware of all the rails are the same so they should go in OK.

You need to check, I don't think the later seats fit into the early cars.
Not sure if its the airbags that are the problem or the fittings. I think the rear bench is different too.

They'll fit, even if they're from an R56 - they all have the same floor plan fitting. Only difference is R56 front seats have different airbag connectors. Any R50, R53 seats will fit; pre facelift or post facelift.

Just be careful to leave the ignition switched off from before you take the seats out until you put the new ones in. If you don't, the airbag light will come on and you'll need up to 30mins of dealer labour to turn it off.

Only to check you've got the correct torx bit (T40?) to remove the 4 bolts on each front seat. There's a few tips on removing the rear seats here (http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_interior#faq_faq_removal).
Other than that it's a simple job and very rewarding, good luck!

I'm glad you started this thread as i am about to buy some Dec 04 seats for a 52 plate mini one and was wondering about the airbag connectors myself.....I guess by reading this thread they will fit ? Bit concerned about the back seat compatibility though , aren't the back seats exactly the same ?:puzzled:

Three things to remember when changing seats.

1) Always disconnect the battery. Don't do what Modern MINI mag advised and "just be carefull not to touch the airbag connectors". Disconnect the battery to isolate them properly. Expensive mistake if you set the airbags off:(

2) As posted above, do not turn the ignition on until you have both seats back in and connected. If you do you'll be paying for a dealer to recode them.

3) When you bolt the seats back in be careful not to cross thread the bolts. To alloy some tolerance the fixing point in the car is a captive nut that can move around. If you cross thread and strip the thread you've had it.

good point there, always disonect the battery and wait at least 5 mins before disconecting any SRS couplers

Hi, went to fit the seats today !

bakseats no problems ! easy

front seats, on seeing my new front seats it appears the the passenger seat

has had its airbag cables cut ? whats all that about ?

i can see the wires but they have obv been cut and there isnt a blue/yellow box thing

with it ? how easy is it to snip them off my old seats and join them onto the new ones ?

also can i fit a passenger seat without a airbag even tho my old seat had airbags ?

will this send information to my dash ? im unsure atm about everything haha !

The mounting holding the yellow connector on your airbag should twist off the seat frame.
There are only two wires; brown/white and black/white, so it shouldn't be to difficult to splice in the connector from your old seats. Alternatively, you could dismantle the seats taking all the trim off and seat covers to swap the airbag underneath.
You will set off the dashboard light If you don't connect the airbag before you turn the ignition on.
