I might have a little bit of news for you folks with the Convertible JCW on order... I happened yesterday to come into very close contact with a UK spec factory JCW Convertible, factory aero kit, brakes, wheels etc confirmed it was a factory works car ;)

One thing that I noticed was that the exhaust DID have JCW logos etched into the tops of them. I haven't seen these on the factory works hatchbacks so was news to me!

Unfortunately the area I was in prohibited camera use, else I would have got photos for you all.

I saw one at the Race Retro show on friday, and i had a good look around but didn't notice these logos present? I didn't take any pictures of the rear though! Damn!

I didn't notice any on the cabrio at geneva, but... doesn't mean they won't be there on the car mind - I assume it definitely wasn't a cooper s stage one?

It was being rolled off a transporter factory fresh, still in its protective shipping gear, so definitely wasn't a stage 1 ;)

Plus it had the single boot badge, brakes, wheels etc ;)

Not forgetting the PDC is now as standard on the JCW!

Always has been on the cabrio, so that's no biggy really....

I saw the exhaust on the JCW R57 when I was on the dealer launch training event & distinctly remember pointing it out to someone else that was there. They were adament that they've been like that on the R56 version for a little while.

I knew I was right!! :p

Can't wait to get to drive a JCW R57 :D

I wondered whether we'd seen the end of the etched logos. Why you ask? Because MINI USA have apparently recalled all R56 MCS. Americans have launched so many lawsuits for burnt legs at MINI, they have decided to shorten the exhausts. I assumed this is why the factory works pipes are the way they are, and that all new models would follow this trend. I hope not.

It's definately the case due to me being a little bit too geeky on the dealer training event. So I had a good long nosey at the car that was on display. Like jon said, it had all the tell tale signs of the jcw including the red highlighted numbers on the gear knob. ;)

I really want to add the Factory JCW backbox to my Stage 1 kit, and the lack of JCW logo on the tips was the only thing putting me off slightly. Oh and that the chromed ones look nicer too, logo or not! I could live without those for the sound though! :D

So, the next question. Were the tips chromed or not, or just the plain metal ones, as used currently?

Yeah they were chrome finish. Just how they should have been when the JCW came out on the R56 :)

Even better news! Are they exactly the same as the hatch versions in terms of internal size? i.e they are the same internal width all the way to the back box?

Not like the Stage 1 tips on mine, where you've got the big tips, but the smaller diameter pipe from the back box can be seen inside the tip?

Errrr..... Pass! Lol. Couldn't say really. I think it was the same size as the older tips and not like the stage 1 ones. But that really is a guess. :p
