: These "spy shots". Is it me, or is there no change? Paul Mar 26th, 2009, 12:05 PM These "spy shots" of the facelift model. They aren't are they? Mini Cooper facelift spy shots 1 of 5 - MotorAuthority - Car galleries, pictures, images, pics, photos, shots (http://www.motorauthority.com/gallery/2010-mini-cooper-facelift/2010-mini-cooper-facelift-spy-shots-march-001.html) They just have the factory aero on (for certain markets) don't they? Or am I missing something that "Motor Authority" aren't? KPKalle Mar 26th, 2009, 12:14 PM I agree they don't look much different  Paul Mar 26th, 2009, 12:16 PM I look at those and look at this: http://www.mini2.com/forum/3633571-post3.html and I think they've made a mistake?
(Another reference: http://www.mini2.com/forum/3653882-post1.html) Harpo Mar 26th, 2009, 12:40 PM And what’s with the tow-bar on the hatch, and the 7-fins on the Clubman? Paul Mar 26th, 2009, 12:52 PM Strange choice of add-ons, but am I the only one who cant see anything new? I question motor authority's authority on this one. mel deabreu Mar 26th, 2009, 01:32 PM Maybe they have put the aero kit on it to disguise the changes to the standard bumpers:puzzled: If there are any changes. Paul Mar 26th, 2009, 01:33 PM Then the "spy shots" would still be pointless, as they don't show anything new. W44NE G Mar 26th, 2009, 02:22 PM The only difference I can see over my works kit is the little black foglight surrounds... I didn't get it when I saw the "spy" pictures in this week's Auto Express... very weird. I love MINI, Laura Mar 26th, 2009, 03:23 PM Wait a minute.... Am I missing something but the MCS in the first photo has a slatted grille. I thought this was impossible as it was one thing that put me off the R56 MCS. That I couldn't change the honeycomb grille for a slatted grille or is this just a factory aero kit?
If it is I like that!
Nope scratch that, its a Cooper in the first pic just has a bonnet scoop. mel deabreu Mar 26th, 2009, 03:58 PM You can get a black slatted grill for the MCS as its part of the factory aero kit.
I used to have it on my MCS untill i got rid and replaced it with the JCW kit. stupid dealer error.
i might try selling mine.:D supa-dupa-cooper Mar 26th, 2009, 07:11 PM Random Cooper S spoiler on the back of the clubber :p NeuroBeaker Mar 27th, 2009, 06:34 AM (Another reference: http://www.mini2.com/forum/3653882-post1.html)

I like the look of the Canadian Factory Aero Kit (middle row in second quote) much better than the UK/Worldwide versions above and below it. The lines seem cleaner and the bumpers are less cluttered - overall more understated and sophisticated, in my view.
All the best,
Andrew. Carlos. Mar 27th, 2009, 07:46 AM You're not allowed to say you like Canadian anything, anymore, Doc :p :D Nath316 Mar 27th, 2009, 08:07 AM yes looks like either they have covered up any external changes with existing bits as we know all manufafacturers do
either that or there are no real external changes and everything is underneath! Paul Mar 27th, 2009, 08:17 AM You're assuming these are the "facelift" cars based on no evidence other than they say so. minicabrio Mar 27th, 2009, 08:25 AM If you're looking at the bumpers, you're looking in the wrong place ;)
Both cars in these pics (hatch and clubby) have a very slightly re-profiled bonnet ;) These aren't facelift models, they're test mules for upcoming drivetrain updates ;)
Nicely specc'd test mules though :D NeuroBeaker Mar 27th, 2009, 10:13 AM If you're looking at the bumpers, you're looking in the wrong place ;)

What I was commenting on was the images I quoted from MINIAC - bit of a strange place to make the comment, I now realise. :o
What sort of drivetrain updates? Do you know? :D minicabrio Mar 27th, 2009, 11:14 AM The usual updates that all companies are going through at the moment... tweaking engines and drivetrains to lower CO2 figures while increasing peak power at the same time ;)
There will also be at some point the BMW diesel engine from the 116d, 118d and 120d (all use the same engine). ;) LookalikeJCW Mar 27th, 2009, 06:42 PM The only differances i can see is the Clubman spoiler which i quite like and the fin spokes off the old model, but there nothing new!! TDLC Mar 27th, 2009, 08:21 PM I hope it's a mistake or a hoax. I do not like these bumpers one bit. I know you can't argue about taste, but I hardly see these aerodynamic kits in the real world. And the car looks ridiculous with those colour coded aero bumpers and standard black wheel arches. Sorry not my thing. sony Mar 27th, 2009, 08:38 PM I defo can't see anything different! | |
