can't find a pic to see but on my cooper there are two jump start points and one is part of the bodywork. or both are under the battery cover....

should be in your handbook though

your dealer wants 40 quid for a MINI manual ??? or are you talking about the Haynes manual (which you dont really need)

what reg is the car ?

I assume the One D is like the Cooper S, and i think the battery is in the boot. Or maybe your Mini is one of those magic cars I see driving around that are apparently 'Powered By Fairydust' :)
You have to put diesel in it? Right? :D

yes its a diesel and the manual they are charging £40 for is a usual handbook that should come with the car and the silver sleeve thing that it sits in.
if the battery is in the boot then why is the + terminal in the front?

It's not the + battery terminal. Its a place from which you can jump start the car should you need to!

Yeah you only need the positive terminal to jump start your car. The CORRECT way to do jump start a car is to connect one jump cable to the + terminal and the other to a suitable metal earth somewhere in the engine bay away from the battery, NOT to the other negative terminal on the battery. This is why you can only find a + post under the bonnet.

To jump start someone elses you'll have to do it directly to your battery.
