: Clubman S: most performance for the money

After having test driven the Clubman S I realize I must own one. However for it to be financially feasible for me it must have as few options as possible. Actually I cant see adding more than 1,500 (US) to the base cost. Additionally, 500 of that must go toward AC....believe me, it gets hot here and you dont want me to sweat much.

So, looking at spending only a mere 1,000 extra above base cost it should, of course to be spent on performance. I realize many of you might think "If you're going to do it. Do it right". But honestly, the fact is that the ceiling of my budget is really 24K  . So ballooning that figure near +2K is already almost like begging my wife to slap my face!
Im taking into affect the added upkeep cost of the MINI as compared to a simple-boring-asian car

So the crux of my question: Where should I spend this meager 1K? It seems to me I should just spend the 500 on the slip diff and maybe be happy? Or is the DTC so necessary Id hate that I didnt get it? What about the sport suspension?

As you can see Im a newbie to it all and just looking for good advice for the cheap frugal buyer.

(I'm posting this after doing numerous searches for related topics and couldnt much of anything helpful)

Thanks for your help!

John

I do not know the equipement series at USA

the mechanical differential LSD is a great choice for the drive, for me is still the best (not the DTC electronic...the DTC does not replace the mechanical action effective) ;)

do not take this DTC....

Hi John and welcome

Don't know what supply is like your side of the pond ;)

Are you talking about getting a brand new Clubbie? I was looking for new but got a great deal on a used one :D

It was about 10 months old but loaded with extras and all for the price of a new fairly basic model

Very happy with deal and what a great car to drive :nice::biggrin:

As has been suggested, how about a used car. My 6 month old Clubman S with a big £25k spec (is that $37.5k at todays rates?), came with 2,000 miles and a 35% saving on new;)

But yes you are very right, the Clubman S is the best model in the MINI range at the moment:)
