: Anyone splashed out on KW variant 1,2,3 coilovers? superclaret Apr 28th, 2009, 09:49 AM Im going to buy a set of KW variant 1 coilovers for my R56 mcs.
Anyone bought these for theirs yet?
Hows the 55mm drop look and feel? Im guessing the little flappy bits on the underside of the bumper need to come off!
My MCS is on 17 inch wheels. There's a grey MCS in this months issue of modern mini and its on KW variant 2's. Looks very nice
Thanks in advance superclaret Apr 28th, 2009, 01:27 PM I've ordered a set this afternoon, so hopefully they'll arrive pretty soon and I can get them fitted.
I'l try and get some pictures online to show you what they look like once fitted.
Always wanted some coilovers and KW seem to be a top brand, so confident in my purchase.
Would still welcome any feedback if any other MCS owners have these on their car
Cheers adam_Randell May 1st, 2009, 09:47 AM lemme know what they are like. I have just the springs, but would like to know the difference in ride comfort with the coilovers superclaret May 1st, 2009, 10:36 AM lemme know what they are like. Yeah will do. No probs.
Shouldnt be long now Minipnut May 10th, 2009, 05:46 AM i just fitted the V2's on my R53, handles beautifully superclaret May 11th, 2009, 09:52 AM Right....I've had my KW V1's fitted.
I still need to do a bit of adjusting tonight to get them set up properly because once it was dropped down from the ramp it was clear that they were set far too low! my front wheels are in the arches and the plastic flappy bit on the underside of the bumper is clearing the floor by just a few mm's.
Even at this ride height the ride quality seem's pretty comfortable. Not harsh at all, although once I get it set up tonight I can get out and give it a proper drive and see how it feels.
Very pleased with them so far. I'l update later for anyone who's interested kevkbuk May 11th, 2009, 12:18 PM Very pleased with them so far. I'l update later for anyone who's interested
Please do :D Could you also post up what you had before? Eg sport/non sport suspension, stock wheels, runflats etc? superclaret May 11th, 2009, 07:41 PM Ok.........I've spent 1.5 hours adjusting my coilovers. And just got back from a good hours driving. Very impressed!!!
Before I put them on I had standard cooper s suspension (none sport), 17 inch web spoke alloys with 205 45 r17 run flats on.
The quality of the ride has changed, but I wouldn't say for the worse. Its just different. A bit more bouncy, but not really stiff. Its definately confortable enough for day to day driving. As you would expect the handling is vastly improved. Makes you drive a lot faster!
I have my front coilovers set to the highest setting and its still really low. I need to drop the back a bit more, but the best thing about it for me is that if I wanted to drop it lower on some euro style 16's, then I can get it really low no probs. If you want controlled lowering coilovers are the way forward. Dont bother comparing the drop range to springs, because its totally different.
Really chuffed with my purchase. I would highly recommend them:biggrin: adam_Randell May 12th, 2009, 11:54 AM awsome :D
get some pics up! :) superclaret May 12th, 2009, 02:58 PM I'l tweak the rear suspension tonight and put up some images tomorrow people :nice: adam_Randell May 13th, 2009, 02:15 PM good stuff :) superclaret Jun 29th, 2009, 11:45 AM Finally going to get some pictures up of my car on coilovers now.
Had to buy a new camera and have been away, but i'l give the beast a wash tonight and take some pics. | |
