I was excited enough in March 2008 when it was announced to put down a £1,000 deposit. I was excited enough in May 2008 to let the deposit stand when they delayed the launch until the start of '09. My excitement evaporated when they said in January 09 that it would be further delayed until July 09. And I'm still yet to be convinced that it isn't vapourware - I've seen two or three JCW Hatches, so I know that the model actually exists, but I have a hard time believing that they will ever sell lots of them.
Apart from a morbid curiosity that keeps me coming back here, I really couldn't give a stuff about new cars now; in January Mr. VW made me an offer that was too good to refuse on an R32 that cost me no more than the JCW Clubman I'd specced up in my own mind, and although the road tax is scarily expensive, there is nothing that would make me want to swap it for a Clubman JCW, and the DSG gearbox might have changed me from being a potential life-long customer of MINI to being a life-long customer of VW. Sorry to hear this Charles :(
I think I'd be feeling the same as you, although as I've already got a MCS Clubbie I'm happy to wait a while longer :)
Have to say the R 32 is a real beast of a motor, very nice :nice::biggrin: | |
