Hi All

Like some I only found this forum whilst trying to find out more about mini convertible problems. I've just been quoted £1600 to repair unopening roof on our 54 model. To say it's been an unlucky car is like saying Saddam was just misunderstood!

Driven into on second day of ownership
3 times in dealers for roof alignement
New internal hood covers as others were ripped off during opening
1 visit for new steering pump, whilst there it was crashed into again
3 visits for them to get paint right and overspray from inside of car
(all williams liverpool)

Anyway, the dealer in chester has sent off a good will request to Mini uk. I'm not expecting much but has anyone else had a 'goodwill jesture' from Mini. I don't know whether to travel and take the car to one of the independents listed on some threads.

Any advice/guidance would be much appreciated in our time of need. I really don't want to sell any of my organs or children, to get the job done at the full price.

Regards
Zeb.

Is this four threads on the same problem? Do cables only last 4/5 years?
See my reply at

Good luck.

Good news, the dealer has had a reply from mini. They will stump up the cost of all parts and contribute to 50% of labour. In the end it will only cost us £140.

Reading through the threads and replies it's clear there is a problem that mini know about. The other common question is "is this going to happen every three years?".

I felt even better coming out, spoke to a nice lady BMW owner who's car has only done 20k and the engines blown. The dealer wants £4000 to repair it!!!

Hi there
Just saw your note on this, and noted that you managed to get a goodwill gesture! Lucky you! So far I have had no luck at all.

Have you owned the car since new?
