My wife said that she had an unusual experience today...
She went over her friend's house in her new MINI for the first time and parked it outside her house. As she was leaving to drive home, a lady(who my wife has never seen before) in the opposite house ran out of her house, across the road into my wifes path, physically stopping her from pulling away. My wife was concerned that she may have driven over something so stopped and wound down the window.
The lady had just stopped her to say that she saw her car out of her front window and thought it was fantastic and just wanted to tell my wife! . My wife said that the lady was talking for about ten minutes about how she loved minis.
Has anyone else met an obsessed mini fan whist going about their business?lol

It's happened a few times over the years, or just in conversation when you mention the MINI and people start swooning about the car. :D

Now when I say I have an old Corolla they generally look confused and/or laugh and ask "Why?!". :(

Only with my classic Mini. I spent quite a lot of money modifying that. The current MCS is basicly standard. However, I have only had it 4 days ;)

People used to comment on the central locking I DIY installed on my old Mini, and give it admiring looks now and again, but nobody really spoke to me about it that I didn't already know.

I once came back from buying a pay and display ticket to find a lady peering into my boot...turns out she had a convertible and was admiring the amount of space you get in a hard top boot! That's the first and only time anyone's thought the boot was spacious...

LoL!

I had to change my dive gear set up last night, just so I could take the MINI to the dive club!! A couple of extra inches would have meant I could have squeezed my twin set in :(

Someone in a carpark once waited for me to park and get out the car, before coming over to say how nice the car was and ask questions about the decals etc

and again one lunchtime I came home, a guy who'd been behind me driving up my road, stopped and parked up as I was reversing on the drive, next I knew he was waiting for me to get out the car (i'll admit it freaked me out a bit !) but he just wanted to ask some questions about the MINI as he was looking at a ONE Convertible and he wanted to know what was on mine that would be on his spec wise. I saw him again a few months later in a Black ONE Convertible :) Still has it now!

and theres the schools kids that walk past 'WOW A MINI!!' or 'Look at that MINI' :p Happened again just the other day and it made me smile :)

when I had my red and white MINI Copper (the one with all the arches white) I was stopped after I had parked up by a nice old man who must have been around 70 if not older, saying how much he loved them and how he had all the special editions when he was younger (of the old Mini) and as soon as the new MINI came out he went straight out and got one and was telling me how he'd met Mike Cooper when he went to the Works garage at East Preston. He was a very interesting chap, and I could have talked to him for ages.
