: 6 Speed box? caveman_dave Jul 3rd, 2009, 09:13 AM I hope they put a 6 speed box in it. The engine is exactley the same one as was fitted to the Fiesta TCDI that I had, on motoways at 70mph the fuel consumption was very poor, it desperatly needed to go up a gear.
I only had it 9 months for that reason (changed it for my Dooper which is far better anyway :D).
Given that the zetec fiesta is only about £1500 cheaper than a dooper when they are speced the same I think Mini is on to a winner. Paul Jul 3rd, 2009, 09:23 AM Missed that on the article, will paste it in somehow. Yes, it's a six speed manual. Paul Jul 3rd, 2009, 09:25 AM Put the six speed reference in theSwitchback report.
Be interesting how this is priced, and how easy it would be to chip it up to Cooper D spec. Leedz Jul 3rd, 2009, 09:24 PM I hope they put a 6 speed box in it. Sorry if I'm being a bit slow here, but i don't understand this post.....which car has exactly the same engine as the Fiesta? caveman_dave Jul 5th, 2009, 09:00 AM Sorry if I'm being a bit slow here, but i don't understand this post.....which car has exactly the same engine as the Fiesta?
All Mini diesels, not sure about petrols use engines built by PSA, who inturn own Peugeot and Citroen.
The same engines are fitted to Fords, Volvos as well as the Peugeots and Citroens.
The 110hp version (Cooper D) is not used in Fiesta's but is used in 207/307 etc, the 90hp version that is going to be used in the MINI One D is used in the Fiesta and lower spec 207's and C3'S etc.
Its good to here that a 6 speed box will be fitted, I am glad in a way that the fiesta didn't have one, because if it did I would probably still have it and not a Coopper D. Ah right....I knew that the Cooper D engine was a joint PSA/BMW project, but I thought that Ford were still fitting the older 90 bhpDuratorq 1.6 diesel in the Fiesta, which PSA and Ford had designed some time ago (and was used in the Focus and previous Fiesta Zetec S). I'd assumed that the One D engine was just a lower output version of the newer and more sophisticated Cooper D engine, but obviously thats not the case.
This better engine was one of the reasons why I thought MINI could justify their price premium over other small cars. After all, its very easy to get considerable discounts off the list prices of the new Fiesta, but not of course in the case of the MINI. radster Jul 9th, 2009, 09:31 PM my 2003 mini d is a toyota and i have already found 2-3 places in engine with toyota stamp LarryMan Nov 11th, 2009, 07:10 AM Does anyone knows when the second generation MINI one D will be on sales in the UK? B-R Mini Nov 25th, 2009, 11:17 AM I've just bought a Cooper D, but pure for the curiosity:
Is the One D engine like the HDI 90 HP engines in Citroën and Peugeot without an intercooler? caveman_dave Nov 25th, 2009, 01:15 PM I've just bought a Cooper D, but pure for the curiosity:
