It's Gill's birthday today and her new Convertible is here. It actually arrived last week - but better early than late!
The gen 2 is white (the gen 1 was black) so need to change the avatar.
Early views on the difference between gen 2 and gen 1.
Engine much perkier (but it is a Cooper and gen 1 was a One)
Gearbox sweeter (no crunch in finding reverse)
Can see out of back window and much cleaner lines with roof down - thanks to new roll-over bars.
Different boot hinges make loading easier.
Wasn't sure about the even bigger speedo - but growing on us.
Not sure that a key slot and a button is an improvement over a key - but seems to be the latest way.
Stop-start is really good. Was a bit wary of it - but it just seems to work.
Hope the hood mechanism is an improvement on gen1 as we had some issue - but BMW always put them right.
