Has anyone experienced probelems with broken / split rubber seals on the clubman's rear doors?

The rubber seals at the bottom of both windows (the section of rubber below where the wipers rest and above a chrome strip) on my clubman are both split along their lengths for between 4 to 6 inches from the outside. At first glance there doesn't appear to be a problem as the upper piece of rubber still lies along the chrome strip and when you lift them the lower bit is still inside - I only noticed it when washing the car recently. Don't think it is vandalism as they would probably have done more obvious damage e.g. to the wipers. I think the seals have just perished - after one year! I don't use a pressure washer or car wash - just a light hosing and bucket & sponge job - so that won't have caused it either.

No apparent signs of water ingress or rust to the rear doors but obviously needs checking / replacing by my dealer. It's a Sept 2008 Clubman D - great car by the way. Just thought I'd check in case anyone else has had this problem and might be worth checking yours just in case.

Cheers, Gary

No. Just properly branded products, no 'cheapies'.

Very strange - I'd get it in! Shouldn't have done that

Booked in to be done on Friday 28th August. The dealer didn't seem to 'bat an eyelid' when I booked it so hopefully there will be no problem - I half expected them suggesting that it had been vandalism or misuse by me. Will update after Friday when I find out what the cause / fault actually is.

I have exactly the same problem. My passenger-side barn door has lost all of the rubber outside of the chrome beltline. The driver-side is perfect. I didn't want to take the car in just to repair that, so I had them send me a new rubber seal. Still don't quite know how to pull the chrome off safely. Maybe I should take it in after all. BTW - this is my first post on the forum. Hope I'm not running afoul of any posting etiquette.

Fixed today by dealer (Preston Hall MINI, Stockton-on-Tees). Only took them about 25 mins - they were so quick that I was taken by surprise when they gave me the keys back and I forgot to ask exactly what the problem had been. I think they said that they had re-seated and resealed the seals. From what I can tell the upper part of the seal is actually glued or bonded to the glass and the lower part just clips onto the chrome, so I think that they have just re-glued the upper sections as the seals look like the original ones (there was nothing wrong with them so didn't need changing). Anyway, all sorted, no quibbles, quite happy!

Taking mine in as well. Scheduled for October 5th (earliest opening they have). MINI of Sterling may have a little more work than they know how to handle.
